Bank tube station has gained a large new entrance with lifts and escalators direct to the Northern line and DLR platforms.

Bakerloo line upgrade
Stage one of the Bakerloo Line Upgrade will replace the existing, life-expired fleet of trains which are currently 51 years old. A new maintenance facility will also be constructed at Stonebridge Park to replace the current facility which requires extensive reconfiguration and upgrading for the maintenance of a modern fleet. Other works such as power and upgraded communications systems will also be required to enable the introduction of new trains. Feasibility work has started to help inform the delivery strategy and to develop the scope of the project. A priced option currently exists for the purchase of new trains for the Bakerloo line within TfL’s contract with Siemens Mobility Ltd for the supply of the new Piccadilly line fleet. By exercising this contract option, and subject to funding, new trains on the Bakerloo line could be introduced from the late 2020s. These new trains will provide significant benefits to customers with improved reliability

Yes it is indeed excellent news. Very glad that they have finally come round to the idea that the bakerloo needs the work more than other deep level roots. I know that money is still tight due to the unrest between TFL and central government but surely, even with inflation and high costs as they currently are comma with the number of passengers using the system again and the Elizabeth line as it is I should imagine the financial strain is not quite as bad as they feared it might be. On a side note, my screen reader isn't handling that paper particularly well, what is happening at king's cross?

TfL have arranged for the entrance on the south side of Euston Road directly opposite Kings Cross to be replaced with a new step free entrance incorporated into the new building being built to replace Belgrove House.

Ooo that will be useful., I find that entrance has some value but it's lack of step 3 can be a nuisance if either myself or the people I'm traveling with have luggage as is often the case when attempting to use it.

Ah it's the entrance to the underpass to KX on Euston Road, I was thinking it was the old Thameslink entrance.

It’s a shame it isn’t the old Kings Cross Thameslink entrance, which has been closed full time since Covid start, and even before that was open with limited hours. This entrance has a bus stop right outside whereas the current south side entrances or the new Belgrove House entrance do not. Admittedly it’s only useful for the Victoria line.

The nine minute step free saving doesn’t add up. Whilst the pedestrian crossing timings are very pedestrian unfriendly it does not take that long to cross the road, and if it did then that is a poor reflection on TfL who are responsible for traffic light timings. I know it’s being funded by the development, but personally feel the money better spent elsewhere.
