Thinking about it its only 2 weeks tomorrow since Southern got a lot of stick from commuters about short trains on the Uckfield line. So why were they short? Well one unit was out for its overhaul and refurb.

The other though was out because it had hit a tree. The TOCs can't afford to have stock out of service because it has hit trees.

Real Train Times is showing when the first trains will operate from my local station weather permitting, the first being at 0912 to London Bridge (Southern) and then every 15 minutes and 1019 to Highbury & Islington (London Overground) and then to normal timetable.

So EMT's severe weather timetable has the 0455 from Derby getting into London at 6:48. Wonder if that's a typo. Everything else before and after is stopping at Bedford. I can't imagine many will want to be stranded at Bedford station - so the 6:34 from Leeds which arrives in London at 10:16 is going to be rammed.

So does the National Rail website, though it shows it as having been delayed by an earlier train fault.

It was been showing that 2 hours before it set off, there was a fault on a down train at Plymouth much earlier in the evening (hence the cancellation of its return working) which did not affect the sleeper service except a couple of extra stops on it.

She just called me, she said the taxi driver said there were no trains from Waterloo.

I said 'is it a minicab driver? They are all liars, don't they have any black taxis, how much is he trying to sting you for, it should be about 12 quid, yes there is still a train but you need to go NOW'

He wanted 18, I told her to give him 15. She could have got the 26 bus for free (with her t/c) direct to Waterloo if she'd checked the timetable earlier (last one left about 5 minutes before she first texted me).

Apparently she's in the taxi now, so she should make the 01:05, which is delayed anyway.

My reply will be very clear 'Sorry, I've drunk a bottle of Chianti NO '

Disappointingly no sign of any biblical storm. I was quite looking forward to it....

Real Train Times is showing when the first trains will operate from my local station weather permitting, the first being at 0912 to London Bridge (Southern) and then every 15 minutes and 1019 to Highbury & Islington (London Overground) and then to normal timetable.

I think the Southern times ought to be looked at with caution as I think the early schedules have been removed and there are no revised ECS moves to get stock in the right place for a 9am start.

No that's an RHTT (RailHead Treatment Train) which runs every day
at this time of year to clear leaf mulch from the running lines.

Some rail companies now have timetables up. Starting about 8am on southeastern with 2 trains an hour to London instead of normal 6-9 on metro lines. Southern are around 2 an hour on local lines starting about 9am. That seems to continue all day. I think south west trains are about the same.

National rail enquiries are now listing a load of usual trains running in addition to those that have been added and those cancelled.

So listed is an 8.04 via Cobham and an 8.08 via Cobham. Both are running. Cancelled trains include a 9.01 to Waterloo via Woking and a 9.03. I think something has gone wrong. I knew the departure boards wouldn't cope but didnt expect this. Unless they have changed their plans and they are running a load of usual trains.

Interestingly there is a 7.48 to Shalford and a 7.48 to Rrdhill. The latter is cancelled up to Guildford but not the former. When you go into the Shalford one is apologises for the delay. They are getting in the comment in early, the train hasn't even left yet. Not due to do so for almost anther three hours!

As for the wind and rain in Guildford. It's happening but the worst is yet to come I believe and it might even last until midday.

Just got in from my late one to London & back. I have to say, despite the blanket 50mph restriction that delayed us, and some wheelslip issues ( drivers problem, not mine), it was just another wet Sunday evening, nothing special.

Some heavy rain driving home, though.

They are now saying there are a few trees down, causing severe disruption to all lines.

I await news from the other railways around London, the South, etc., which are closed until 0900 anyway. I suspected problems lurk when the empties are run to check the lines...!

Quite a few roads are blocked by trees & debris in East Surrey.

0655: Western Power says 2,000 properties are without power in the South West area.
A train has hit a tree near Ivybridge Station in Devon. There were no passengers on board and the driver was unhurt.

So that's two trains reportedly hit by trees. Looks like Network Rail and the TOCs made the right call by cancelling services.

At Selby station. East Coast's 0735 to London is showing as having been replaced by a bus. I assume that's to Doncaster ad a bus to London would nor be the greatest option! Its also in contradiction with the National Rail website which shows this service as cancelled. Rather frustrating that East Coast have cancelled this when Hull Trains are running normally.3

Was sent with a driver to examine the line this morning. Did about 2 miles before hitting a tree. Been stuck here for an hour now and have been told the p-way teams are understandably swamped. Thank god we were sent empties rather than in service. My biggest concern now is that there are quite a few larger trees that look like that could fall on top of us, not a great start to the day..

GodAtum: Not really. No trains are running until around 0911, I believe. This was publicised from lunchtime yesterday (Sunday).
