UK aerial location identification

This is similar to the "guess the station" quiz except that, obviously, it involves aerial views which must be of railway locations - but not necessarily of a station. And actual photographs rather than Google Earth images, please, otherwise it could get a bit too easy.

As is usual, the first person who answers correctly has the opportunity to post the next one if they can.

I doubt we have as many aerial pictures amongst us as we have of the normal ground level ones, so I don't expect this to be such a fast moving thread, but I think pictures taken from tall buildings should be acceptable if the moderators agree?

Anyway, enough waffling, here is what should be a reasonably easy one to start off with...

Not Loughborough either. Geographically it is a lot closer to Loughborough than it is to Sheffield, though.

( MCR - I have no idea what type of train it is, sorry - didn't notice it until I had the picture developed as I was concentrating too much on getting the photo done! From looking at the enlarged picture on screen, though, I think it is a Virgin HST northbound. )

The reason I'm not keen on the idea of Google Earth images is that it's so easy to skim along a line with it.

If nobody else offers an image over the next couple of days I'll scan some more of mine in.



Jordy - as a moderator, what is your take on my question about views from tall buildings? I'm happy to accept those if the moderators think it's OK.

Google Earth images are not allowed, but what about the birds eye (or tilted as they call it now) images on Bing? I don't think many forum members have a collection of proper aerial shots taken from a helicopter.

As long as you can't skim across the surface like you can with Google Earth and there are no copyright issues, then if the moderators are happy, so am I.

In the meantime, here is another one as nobody else has offered one up yet. It isn't as difficult as it might look - pay attention to the distinctive architecture in the area and it should be quickly obvious which station this is.

Used to work there on the barriers and also used to go to a college there so I know the station area well.
