Uber ticketing

I've just received the usual 5% credit for my aforementioned uncollected ToD booking (post #311), so it seems their system can't tell them apart from collected ToD bookings.

I'll give it 4 weeks to see if that changes (14 Nov update - it didn't, and no refund was issued).

18 Nov update - collected the ticket yesterday despite it expiring 5 weeks ago! o_O

The “important info” says it’s not valid for rail tickets. I wonder if that’s out of date info or if it’s a different kind of credit.

Shame this is so complicated.

To follow up on this, I have bought an Uber gift card from Jam Donut (at 8% cash back) and can confirm that despite the disclaimer it was credited as Uber Money and I was able to use it to buy a rail ticket. So I suspect this disclaimer across many of the gift-card retailers is out of date.

Are Jam Doughnut the best place to buy Gift Cards?

I'm guessing the 'discount' is not off the total price, but a rebate that is credited to your account on Jam Doughnut, which can be used against future purchases.

Interestingly, the two journeys I'm still awaiting credits for - plus the one that was never credited - were for journeys that involved getting a paper ticket from the ticket machine.

So there seems to be an issue for some journeys that require a paper ticket, not tracking properly.

I also read somewhere that the period between completed journey and credits appearing on your account is supposed to be 'up to 10 days'.

The tuck gift card app is today offering 8.2% back on Uber cards
Beware:

I’ve just bought one through Tuck as a test - and it appears as an “Uber Business Voucher” rather than as Uber Money. It’s a separate payment type in your wallet and can only be used for rides, not train tickets.

Have others had different experiences with Tuck?

Thanks for the warning. I had one of those business vouchers through a survey app I use.

I signed up to uber one to avail myself of the 10% credits but have not been able to buy tickets. The images are from last night, tried again this morning - same thing :(
Any tips?

What are the 7 railcards you are using?

I’d be surprised if any website will allow you to buy with such a mixture of railcards.

I've just tried again with just the four adults and the TwoTogether railcards - still no joy.

yes they are:
Thanks. There's an issue where there's a large group buying return split eTickets - the PDFs, Google Pass and Apple pkpass are not generated quickly enough before they reach the timeout ceiling. If you split it into two groups (of three and four) I think it will work!

Ok thanks, that makes sense. I did try just with just 4 adults (see post #344) but it still timed out. I'll give it a go with 2, 2 and 3 later and hope it sits us all together.

Just search for a day return. Travelcards, as well as singles and returns, will be in the results. You may have to scroll down.

I stopped getting 'Uber Credits' at some point for rail ticket purchases but now they're back...although only 3% now

Was that made clear in the applicable terms when you made those particular bookings? Would be the first I've heard of Uber offering nothing (0%) to non-UberOne subscribers.

For a time they offered one of two rates (3% or 5%, determined seemingly at random) to non-subscribers. I also see 3% in today's terms but that's no guarantee of what others may see; also note the current expiry date (15 January 2026) unusually isn't at the end of a month, for what that's worth.

Mine says 3%, with the same expiry date. However the terms and conditions do say that 'selected users without an active Uber One account will receive 3% of your booking value.'. The implication is that some people (possibly people who use the app rarely?) won't receive anything.

Good spot. I hadn't noticed the "selected users" qualifier until you mentioned it; that may also explain the previous 3%/5% discrepancy.

Just to update, based on my feedback Tuck has updated its processes and now issues Gift Cards which go into your Uber Money balance. I've tested and this now works, so one to keep an eye on when Tuck has the highest cash back.
