I had a hunch that 555001 making a test debut was imminent which is why I waited to update the list. What I didn’t see coming was 555003 making it into service the same day!

Now that we’ve got six units in passenger service, are we likely to be seeing any more diagrams in the next week or two?

Key:
Green
- operational in passenger service
Blue - Delivered, under test.
Orange - Delivered, not yet seen on test
Red - Complete, not yet delivered
Purple - Delivered, in use for driver training
Grey - On assembly line at Stadler Rheintal, St Margrethen, Switzerland.

Notes:
Units stored in Switzerland are split between three known locations; Stadler's St Margrethen site, the SBB yard at St Margrethen, and Stadler's Erlen site.

555001 - delivered to Gosforth 19/04/2024. Tested at VUZ Velim, Czechia, during late 2022 and early 2023.

Nice to see 5550003 on the green line today.
I went to Monument from Pallion, and got back on the same train coming home.
I didn't know 003 had entered service! The new trains have a far calmer attmosphere!

Not a lot of people seem to know that you can press the door button well before the stop, step back, and the door will open automaticly. Those new Metros are a clever piece of kit!

Doesn’t always work, I try it every time on a 555 and I’ve found it to be hit and miss.

The door 'pre-select' feature was removed from the 777s in a software update around the end of last year. Apparently pressing the buttons on either side of the vestibule selected the doors on both sides, so if someone had pre-selected the doors and the driver accidentally released the doors on the wrong side they would open. They are now back to 'standard' door operation, i.e. the button only becomes active once the driver has released the doors.

To be honest, it's a shame that there isn't a function to allow the driver to auto-open all the doors at major stations. It would definitely be useful in the city centre on busy days where every second of dwell time helps.

I attempted pre-select earlier however it didn't work as expected.

What I bitterly miss is the ability to prime the button - hold it as the door is unlocked and it opens automatically.

I do this on the current stock and it saves easily 3 to 5 seconds, and if I time it right, it allows me to be at the gate line at Monument before the last passengers have left the lower platforms

There is a function on the 555 to do this.

For anyone on this thread who’s a fan of the Nebula / YouTube channel ‘Jetlag the Game’ - a presumably newly completed 555 makes a brief cameo appearance in the latest episode (which will be on YouTube next week) adjacent to the exit of St. Margrathen station in Switzerland (presumably in a head shunt from the Stadler factory) as the two protagonists make their way to Höchst just across the nearby Austrian border to complete a challenge.

I wasn’t able to confirm the unit number…
555012. (on YouTube, go to 38:31 and use , and . to move by one frame at a time)

It gets used, driver holds the door release button down instead of pressing it.
I’ve seen it used once. Doesn’t seem to be the norm, even in the core at rush hour.

For those watching JetLag the game, a unit features more prominently in episode 3. Ben and Adam have a section at St. Margrathen with the 555 in view behind them while they discuss the game. It’s on Nebula already, and YouTube next week.
It’s around 3:30, the Metro has a destination of Airport too

Seems to be a standard feature of Swiss trains (judging from my recent experience) it's barmy that it isn't adopted across all rolling stock in the UK and wider! Glad that TW Metro have seen sense and added it to their new trains.

There's been major problems on Metro this afternoon with a suspension on Yellow Line services between Pelaw and South Shields due to signal problems. Nexus advice was to catch the 26 Go North East bus from Heworth... only issue with that is that the 27 hasn't ran for 2½ years!

Both services definitely exist. The 26 covers Hebburn/Jarrow to South Shields and the 27 covers Heworth to South Shields.
