Does that mean that non-operational staff will be allowed to attend, or just Nexus/DB/Media?

"Metrocars will be delivered by lorry along Hylton Street.
There will be no public access to the Metro yard but we understand people may want to stand in the street outside to photograph the trains as they arrive.
Metro staff will be providing safety management in this area and if you do plan to attend, we ask you obey all instructions for your own safety and that of others."
I wonder when the first train(s) does arrive, another one will be waiting to head down to Donny on the same low loader truck? Remember 4 trains are down there, one more to go and they will be the "prototypes" for the rest of the fleet.
I've also noted today 2 staff members wearing those new uniforms and if the Livery is meant to match the uniform then to me the Grey looks very similar to the grey on the Nexus buses but perhaps a little bit more pale. I must say, I don't think the new style METRO logo goes with the grey background either imo.

can confirm 4061 went sometime last week but nothing else

4046 is at Doncaster; the Metro told me a couple of months ago.
Might be possible, although depends on if the fleet can run at a reduced level (you'd have at least 5 trains out of service - 4 at Doncaster and the refurbed one back up). Also IIRC for commissioning tests you'd need two Metrocars back, to make sure they can work together.
Plus in the next couple of months winter will be here which will both make it harder to get the low loader in, and also mean a higher chance of Metrocars being out of service due to the snow etc.
I have been told that we drivers will be getting a little refresher on the refurbed sets before they head out onto the system in service. However long that may take.
Christmas is coming soon!

I'm really looking forward to this unit returning to the system. My imagination has run out of ideas as to how the Metro carriages can be changed.
What website are you referring to? Is it nexus site? I was talking to some staff at Pallion station in Sunderland and they seem quite excited at the return of the first refurbished unit.

Thanks for that. I'll keep a close eye on the web! I'm not really a train mad person although I am very interested in all types of public transport, but I am trying to picture just how you can change a Metro train!!

The first Metrocar to be refurbished as part of the Metro: all change modernisation programme will return to the North East on Friday, 7 October.
Metrocar 4041 'Harry Cowans' will be delivered by road to the Metro maintenance yard at Hylton Street, North Shields.
It will then go through several weeks of final commissioning before entering service paired with a second refurbished car in early November.
The car has been stripped down and rebuilt and bears a completely new livery for Metro as well as a new interior.
We understand that members of the public may wish to photograph or film this milestone in the Metro: all change programme.
Please be aware that Hylton Street is a residential area and the operation to deliver the Metrocar involves a large vehicle turning and reversing.
We ask that you respect our neighbours and follow closely any instructions from Metro staff. There will be NO ACCESS to the Hylton Street yard itself.
Delivery is expected between 11am and 1pm on Friday, 7 October.

This is good news, exciting times for the system.
In all honesty no matter what style of flooring they used, it will never be perfect because lets be honest, the floors are not the best in terms of cleaniness and even though things have improved since DB took over, the floors still look dirty at times although of course no where near as bad as the pre DB Regio days where you had old "chuddy" over the floors at times whatever else.
I've seen that flooring and to be honest I prefer the other floor panal next to it, dirt would not look so obvious and its a better colour imo but with the word that the interiors will be "white" then I think they decided the flooring will be similar to the one that has been trialed in one of the metrocars.
It does sounds like the train won't be covered up if you can take photos of it but we shall see. Should be interesting though and I suppose its better late than never.

No don't think so, probably will go down when the first two have been comissioned and out in revenue service. Fleet is already quite streched, so probably will be a while until the next one goes.
