What's the difference between a "clubmans" Turbostar and a "normal" one?

btw you might want to include Capitalstars in your list as they're basically a variant of Electrostars

Essentially nothing except that those units designated 168 are not electrically compatible with the 170s. They can couple physically in an emergency (both types have BSI couplers) but the electrical boxes have to be retracted.

The 168/0s feature a different cab design but this is simply because the finalised Turbostar cab design was not ready for production in time for the initial Chiltern order. The 168/0s differ in many minor respects from the later 168s, but (other than the cab) the differences are not really any more pronounced than the differences between early and late build 170s.

Where's the Class 379 and the ongoing Class 387 build/deliveries? Additionally you've missed off the Class 172 Turbostar of 2010-2011.

Hard to believe the 376s are only ten years old. They feel older somehow.

I still remember when they were brand new, and I think it was RAIL doing them at the time, the new train review and how it was done in hardly any time.

Memories of standing on platform 6 (I think!) at London Bridge and spotting away, and I remember the best bit of 376s was that the last two numbers of the coach numbers corresponded with the unit ID. That might sound strange, but when it's evening peak time and you're struggling to ID the 375s and 465s because their coach numbering doesn't tally with unit IDs and you've got about 5 of them to note at the same time, it made things so much easier!

I don't know what they're doing to them when they wash them, but last time I was down there plenty of 376s had coach numbers which weren't at all clear, rather washed out. Not too helpful on a white background!

376s don't feel that old yet to me, maybe they will eventually but I'll always have those memories :D

Anyway, this is getting a tad off-topic! Getting back to it, was it really 1997 when 168s first strolled onto the scene? I never realised they're 18 years old this year! Same with 170s, I keep forgetting how old they're getting. 15-16 years of age for my local fleet of them are this year, good grief!

Aye, they're just about my age now and I'm struggling to realise it myself ;)

You youngsters have it easy these days! I'm twice the age of 170501...
