God we've not had a rare track thread in years; we used to have one practically every month when back when I joined

Might be better to limit it to platforms (with track) which are not used by scheduled services.

Does anything ever use Fareham Platform 2? I have seen an MPV in there a couple of times, but that's all.

In addition to D6975's suggestion above, it also gets booked use to turn the Cardiff trains when the Portsmouth triangle is shut for engineering work (it has happened a couple of times this year already).

They're not through trains :)

I thought there was one in the evening peak that was looped there but RTT suggests otherwise. Perhaps it was a one-off due to disruption when I (think I) saw it done.

I am certain there used to be a service in the evening booked in there, it must have been rejigged in the past couple of years or so since I last looked.

Yes, that's where the Tring terminators er, terminate!

The track at the end of Platform 4 usually looks very rusty, so I doubt it gets much use.

Although I don't do rare track, during some disruption several years ago I did ride from Platform 4, northwards and crossed over to the down fast.

I've never seen anything use platform 2 at Crewe, though I believe the EMT Derby carriage uses it sometimes, just never seen it.

Funnily enough a mate of mine used it on the first EMT departure of the day (after I'd assured him it would leave from 4 :D ). Also used by LM terminators. I also have a recollection of a VT Voyager terminating there (though it might have been Plat.3).

Platforms 2 and 8 at Crewe only have limited use.

Funnily enough there was a 158 in Plat.8 at 1800 today. Not sure what it was doing.

(1110 M Haven - Manchester terminated Crewe 1720 52L. Would - presumably - then form the 1730 Mcr Picc - S Wales, starting Crewe 1808-ish. Ouch!)

Turned back from Crewe due late running and re-start return working Right Time

Platform 1 at Huntingdon doesn't see any usage by passenger services. It's a bay platform, so it would only be usable by services starting/terminating at Huntingdon, such as the 1622 ex-Kings Cross on weekdays. Though that particular services terminates on platform 3 and runs an ECS move to platform 2 via Conington South junction.

Hither Green platform 1 is in very, very occasional use and is now having a "suicide fence" built along it (albeit with gates staff can open if required) so I expect it will be used even less going forward.

0934 Huntingdon to London Kings Cross on Saturdays use platform 1 at Huntingdon :)

The unit I believe comes direct from Peterborough sidings, goes south of the station to reverse into the bay platform to get it out of the way of the 0908 Peterborough to London Kings Cross service, allowing that 0908 to run fast [St Neots & Biggleswade only].

Indeed. Just thinking about Stockport you can add Chester services to the list which never use platform 0 and if you think about platform 3A at Stockport then the list of services which never use is is the majority of services which serve Stockport.
Is anything actually booked to use 3a at Stockport on a regular basis? I know the Denton Flyer uses it on a Friday.

Has it even ever had much use?

When I've done the Denton Flyer it went from platform 3

A quick glance at RTT suggests the only booked passenger use of 3A is the 2234 Stockport to Wigan Wallgate service & 0605 Stockport to Liverpool Lime Street services on weekdays

When the Stockport - Stalybridge had hourly trains, that was the platform it used.

Any passenger trains at Worthing platform 1.

RTT is showing 3 trains within an 80 minutes today, two scheduled to allow faster services to overtake and one ad hoc overtake (at 1455 a Brighton train was moved aside to allow a late running Victoria to go ahead of it)

Would that qualify as one of the lesser-known so-called "Parliamentary" services?

Anywhere but here...
Platform 3 at Worcester Shrub Hill is only used once a day Mon-Fri & SuO. Any train to use it can only depart from it's the track is Junction is not signalled for passenger use I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) so the train arrives P1a, departs ECS and arrives in P3 for departure. Can't imagine many people use said train apart from on a Sunday when it is at a reasonably social time of 1138.

Wigan North Western Platforms 1 and 2.
Wigan Wallgate Platform 3.

I'm certain that trains do call there but I've never been at those stations when they may be there... Please enlighten me :)

WNW P1 sees a fair number of booked trains. P2 sees mainly peak services;fairly common. P3 @ WNW is the rare platform.

WW P3 has two services a day (SuX); 06:37 to Southport and 19:00 (19:07 SO) from Kirkby.

*Inserts West Norwood joke*

The bay at Wallgate also happens all day on the Kirkby trains whenever engineering work or other circumstances dictate a thinned out service towards Manchester - it was one of the measures post-Arena bombing back in May when Victoria was on lockdown for a few days for example.

Do any through trains ever use platform 4 at Tring (or even simply pass it)?

The set of points at the North End that connect the relief to the down slow have been long term out of use meaning you cannot leave north or cross from the UF through P4 to reach the US.
You can arrive from the north via the US.

I've never seen anything use platform 1 at Leamington Spa. I believe the only booked use is an early morning weekday service (0708 Leamington Spa to Kidderminster).

Maybe with the new hourly Leamington - Coventry shuttle service being introduced in December it might see more regular use when a terminating service from Stratford-upon-Avon/Birmingham clashes with the Coventry shuttle.

Guess it’s just one of those platforms that are spare. When i went through RTT the other day it wasn’t used at all.

Platform 6 at Wolverhampton. Never seen it used except one ECS.

It's a pity that Stourbridge class 172 terminators don't use Platform 1 either as a split platform (as in A/B divides.) Could work the access/egress between the departures for the shuttle.

There is no access into Platform 1 for passenger trains, so unlikely to see any additional use. Not sure any changes to that are planned either.

Platform one at Stourbridge Junction is only accessible from the rest of the network by a ground frame and then only if you have the single line train staff. Add in that the 139s are not crash compatible with mainline stock it's a non runner.
