Not sure about London Cannon St and London Bridge - is there an intermediate station? You can certainly claim London Cannon Street - Waterloo East - London Charing Cross on those rare occasions when the original main route is in use (with reversals at Cannon Street).

London Liverpool Street and London Fields (bit of a cheat, that one)

New Southgate was called "New Southgate and Friern Barnet" for a few decades, so I thought that this and New Barnet were a suitable pair, but the intervening station Oakleigh Park seems to have been called "Oakleigh Park For East Barnet" during that time, giving 3 Barnets in a row.

Yeah they are. The line curves round to come back towards Hampton post Fulwell.

I've never ridden the Shepperton branch, but given the distance between Hampton Wick and where I always assumed Hampton was (based on Sunbury being close to the M3 junction for the Kingston area), I just always assumed they weren't referring to the same place. For example there's a fair distance between Hampton Wick just over the Thames from Kingston, and the roundabout in front of Hampton Court Palace. If I cycled that distance, I'd be a bit miffed to find myself still in the same place!

They are related - the eastern entrance to the Home Park of Hampton Court Palace is right by the Hampton Wick roundabout at the end of Kingston Bridge, about a mile and a half from the palace. Hampton station is on the western edge of Hampton Village, and about a mile and a half from Hampton Court Palace in the other direction.

If you take what national rail enquires (and most if not all other railway IT systems) use as the "officilal name" then the names of the major London terminals certainly start with the world London.

During testing IIRC there were seperate CRS codes for "Paddington Crossrail" and "Liverpool St Crossrail" but these seem to have fallen out of use and things have been unified onto the main CRS codes for London Paddington and London Liverpool St. e.g. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:P81386/2022-08-30/detailed

It's not just London either, it's quite common in major cities in the UK for the major (or historically major*) stations to carry the name of the city, while the minor stations do not. In many cases though all but one major station has closed and the remaining one has had it's name simplified to just the city name. Airport stations also often end up bearing the city name even though they are some distance from the city center, because the airport is often named after the city.

* Liverpool James St seems to be a fairly minor station now, but it was historically the terminus of a railway line to liverpool.

Isn't it officially just James Street?

The impression I get is that there is a disconnect between online information feeds and Signage on the ground.

As far as online information feeds are concerned Merseyrail is very much part of the national rail network, Liverpool Lime Street is one station and the names of the Stations are "Liverpool James Street", "Moorfields", "Liverpool Lime Street" and "Liverpool Central". On the other hand the Signage on the ground omits the Liverpool Prefix for James Street and for the Merseyrail part of Lime Street. The signage also used to treat Merseyrail more like London underground than like part of the National rail network, though this seems to have changed in more recent years.

Scotrail seem to have dropped the 'Waverley' in most cases recently, which personally I find slightly annoying and could be confusing.

In Glasgow (as far as I remember) you've got a few trains that go to both Queen St and Central low levels with one or two stops between, although I can't remember exactly.
