Trivia: More than 2 changes from Birmingham?

Just wondering if there are any stations which are more than 2 changes away from Birmingham (any terminus station)? I theorised that there aren't and, although I haven't looked into it in the greatest of detail, I haven't yet come across one. For reference, I'm counting London's termini as a single entity, and so a journey between any 2 wouldn't count as a change. Thanks!

Appledore in Kent I think can only be reached with 3 changes minimum Appledore - Ashford International - London St Pancres - London Euston (Underground) - Birmingham New Street or Appledore - Brighton - Gatwick Airport - Reading - Birmingham New Street.

What about the FGW Brighton train?

Not sure about the quickest place to change at between the two trains, but...

Great thread...cant think of any in Wales. Cardiff Bay is 2. Just one to all the valleys unless you are going north past Pontypridd via the City line to Radyr then the wrong valley train eg Treherbert to Pontypridd then change for Merthyr.

XC operate as far as Cardiff Central, so New Street-Cardiff Central-Carmarthen-Fishguard would be 2.

The last trains of the day northbound and first trains soutbound SSuO run to / from Colchester - connect into those with one of the couple of daily direct services to / from Peterborough and despite the long connections it's only two changes.

What about Crowhurst when there is Engineering works between Hastings and Robertsbridge? In such situations a shuttle bus runs between Battle and Crowhurst. No other form of public transport serves Crowhurst.

One would need to change at: London, Robertsbridge (or where the engineering works start) and Battle; or London, Hastings and Battle.

But, if we are including coaches, the journey could be completed with changes at London and Battle.

You are right.

Albeit, the two direct morning services at 04:42 and 05:13 are too early for connections.

So that just leaves the one service at 23:07

Ellesmere Port is one if you don't mind an overnighter on Warrington Bank Quay. If you do there's the option of Chester and Helsby.

Ormskirk is one via Preston.

Mallaig is two with Edinburgh then the seated Sleeper up to Fort William, or one change across Glasgow.

Depends on the time of day though, you might have to change at Carmarthen.
