Ellesmere Port is one if you don't mind an overnighter on Warrington Bank Quay. If you do there's the option of Chester and Helsby.

Ormskirk is one via Preston.

Mallaig is two with Edinburgh then the seated Sleeper up to Fort William, or one change across Glasgow.

I would think any trains which Come into manchester victoria on the calder valley line South of hebden bridge.at the minute with MCV tram stop closed national rail advises to change at salford crescent so for Littleborough it would be

Manchester Piccadilly- Birmingham new street


Even when the tram stop reopens in Jen/feb (ish) it will still be two connections.

Currently, there is a 150+142 Todmorden-Vic service which splits so that the 150 operates Vic-Blackburn and the 142 operates Vic-Wigan Walgate via Bolton (stopper).

This makes it Littleborough-Salford Crest, Cres-Pic, Pic-Brum.
