More than that - yellow lines now being replaced by yellow tactile tiles at appropriate distance from the edge of platforms at termini - seen at Liverpool Street today.

These are useful as a way of preventing partially sighted people from missing the edge of unoccupied platform.

So far what we're getting on paper looks good- electrification, improved capacity etc. But all the talk of what "Northern Powerhouse Rail" (cringe ) will be, and routing Leeds HS2 trains via Manchester (another cringe) has me worrying about the service I use- namely the stoppers through Dewsbury and Mirfield.

Strangely, a tactile warning is just as important at a terminus as a visual warning.

I seem to remember that there were a few runs from Lowestoft to Liverpool St since the class 755s were introduced, (but can't find any at the moment). If they were it is likely that the journey would take over two hours despite the sprightly performance of the 755s.

I wonder if some people actually travelled back in time to the 70s/80s/90s (for more than just a day) whether they would come back to the present day still claiming that old trains are better than modern ones, once the creature comforts (air con, plug sockets, etc) are taken away.
