I’ll grant you the penultimate one - but apart from starting with the same first letter, they’re hardly in any danger of being construed as being the same. Forge / Fort, Balornock / Barlanark, Braehead / Barrhead would only confuse the inattentive.First Glasgow 60/60A serves The Forge Market, and The (Glasgow) Fort Retail Park, which are a few miles apart in the east end of the city.
First also serve Balornock and Barlanark, which are a few miles apart as well.
See also - Milton (housing scheme in north Glasgow) and Milton (small village near Dumbarton), and Braehead & Barrhead.
Thats reminded me of Middleton (near Pickering, 28 & M3) and Middleton-On-The-Wolds (near Market Weighton, X45 & 142) both served by East Yorkshire Buses.I thought you might have said Arriva North East who serve Aislaby (near Whitby X93/4) and Aislaby (near Pickering M3/M7); back in the day, both were served all year round by United.
Before 1986, United also served two Bromptons (one near Pickering and one near Northallerton) plus Brompton on Swale near Richmond, and two Skeltons and two Seamers.
.....and, come to think of it, Keighley Bus served both Lintons when it extended the 760 through to Wetherby.Back in the day, West Yorkshire served Linton (Grassington) and Linton (Wetherby)
More recently, both were served by Transdev (Keighley & Harrogate) although the OP excludes grouped companies.
Kinchbus's Skylink Derby service runs through Alvaston, a suburb of Derby, and also passes close to a village called Elvaston, which is situated only a few miles from the former.
Arriva The Shires serve Luton (the one famous for its airport) and Arriva Southern Counties serve Luton near Chatham
Afraid you're mistaken. Shires and Essex, and Kent and Sussex (later and Surrey, which it still is now despite not leaving Kent)I recollect - although I may be mistaken - that, in the past, both were in the same operating company "Arriva The Shires & Kent".
All pretty sizeable places as well… the Makerfield one more well-known as of late, of course. There are 3 Ashtons on the Bee Network- Ashton under Lyne, Ashton in Makerfield and Ashton on Mersey.
It meets up with the Tarbert ferry on the other side of the water, though connections are poor (with the final journey missing the last boat, and the first journey having a 90 minute wait)Is that service in and around Tarbert by any chance?

Transport UK serve both Hayes in West London and the one in South East London.
A bit off topic but someone I know who lived in the Cottingley near Bradford wondered why crime had suddenly shot up when they joined the 'local' Facebook group regarding Cottingley, they joined the wrong one lolStagecoach Yorkshire serve Hemsworth (Sheffield) and Hemsworth (between Pontefract and Barnsley).
First West Yorkshire serve two places called Cottingley, one in Leeds and one near Bradford.
I can't be 100% certain in Stagecoach days and am happy to be corrected, but I would rather doubt there was any reason for Princess Road vehicles to get to Ashton-under-Lyne. They did get to Oldham (Waterhead in fact) on the 82 in pre-deregulation times though. All pretty sizeable places as well… the Makerfield one more well-known as of late, of course.
I have a feeling Ashton upon Mersey appeared on Princess Rd depot blinds in the Stagecoach/GM buses days. Not sure if services from the same depot operated at the same time to both there and Ashton under Lyne, normally appearing simply as Ashton ?
I have a memory of Princess Rd covering some journeys on the 216 (Magic Bus days maybe ?) but like you, not 100% certain…I can't be 100% certain in Stagecoach days and am happy to be corrected, but I would rather doubt there was any reason for Princess Road vehicles to get to Ashton-under-Lyne.
