OK, what constitutes a "disused station"? Exhibit A m'lud, Newhaven Marine - is disused in all but name; so the key is passengers can't alight or depart a train from it on a normal timetable - but the platforms are still there.

So basically every closed station whose platform(s) are still extant on an operational passenger line? There's dozens of them if so.

Kings cross st Pancras on the thameslink line. There is also a disused station on the line from Swanley to sevenoaks just as you come out of Eynsford tunnel iirc it used to be called lullingstone.

Which could be considered the biggest? The one near Rotherham (think there are 4 platforms - can a local confirm?)??

I think the largest was Blackpool Central had 13 platforms when closed in 1964.
Some other large stations with more than 4 platforms which have closed are ..
Manchester Central
Bradford Exchange
Southampton Terminus
Bournemouth West
Glasgow Buchanan Street
London Broad Street
the original Birmingham Snow Hill which finally closed in 1972 and later rebuilt/reopened
Epsom Downs in its prime had 9 platforms. New resited station has 1 platform

That's Rotherham Masborough. In the later years it was only served by the limited Sheffield - Pontecarlo - York services before they too switched to Rotherham Central. I believe it does have 4 platforms.

There's the two between Meadowhall and Sheffield, and there's Ditton which even still had nameboards last time I went through.

There aren't as many as you'd think though, as in many cases platforms were demolished to allow tracks to be realigned for higher speeds. Examples being the former stations west of Huddersfield at Milnsbridge and Golcar.

Rotherham Masborough definitely did have four platforms.

And although they aren't yet officially closed, I feel as though we can add Norton Bridge, Wedgwood & Barlaston to the list because to all intents and purposes they are.

On London Underground:
  • Central Line: British Museum (between Holborn and Tottenham Court Road), Buckhurst Hill (original station building and Northbound platform are still extant slightly South of the current station), Wood Lane (Eastbound trains pass the site of the former Platform 3 just after entering the tunnel upon leaving White City, but the actual platform was removed to construct access to the new sidings)
  • District Line: Aldgate East (the original station was approx. 170 yards West of the current location), Mark Lane (slightly West of Tower Hill), St. Mary's (between Aldgate East and Whitechapel)
  • Hammersmith & City Line: King's Cross St. Pancras (adjacent to the, also disused, Kings Cross Thameslink station, relocated in March 1941), Shepherd's Bush (located between, and replaced by, Shepherd's Bush Market and Goldhawk Road), White City (located on the opposite side of Wood Lane to the new Wood Lane station)
  • Metropolitan Line: Lord's, Marlborough Road and Swiss Cottage (all between Baker Street and Finchley Road, replaced by stations on what is now the Jubilee Line at St. John's Wood and Swiss Cottage)
  • Northern Line: City Road (between Angel and Old Street), South Kentish Town (between Camden Town and Kentish Town), Stockwell (slightly North of the current station)
  • Piccadilly Line: Brompton Road (between Knightsbridge and South Kensington), Down Street (between Green Park and Hyde Park Corner), Northfields & Little Ealing (slightly West of the current Northfields), Osterley Park & Spring Grove (slightly East of the current Osterley), Park Royal & Twyford Abbey (between Park Royal and Alperton), York Road (between King's Cross St. Pancras and Caledonian Road)

I believe that station never actually opened. It was for a speculative pre war housing development that never happened due to the war then green belt legislation.

Woodlands Road on manchester metrolink

So far that's the nearest to me. Clifton station is now all-but closed - not sure if it can be classified as Parliamentary as it has one train/day calling in each direction. I'm half expecting Geoff Marshall to turn up one day to record "Greater Manchester's Least Used Station" (116 pax) except, of course, we have one that beat Clifton for dead - Reddish South!

NB Denton has pretty much the same use as Clifton ;)

Eltham Park between Eltham and Falconwood. There are also a few remains of the original New Beckenham station on the country side of the existing station, mainly where the overbridge is.

Lullingstone was built for an intended airport (similar to Heathrow) & residential development with its own branch line but all plans scrapped & AFAIK the station never opened properly.

Crosby Garrett on the S & C still just about has it's platforms although I'm not sure when it closed. Culgaith is another one and that went in 1970.

St Leonards West Marina is still extant. It still has a couple of concrete Southern Railway lampposts as well.

Here in the South East the following disused stations (on lines still open) with platforms still in situ..
Chislet Colliery Halt (closed 1971) between Sturry and Minster
Crawley old station resited in 1969
Selsdon (Oxted line platforms- closed 1959) originally 4 platform station
Folkestone East- sections of platforms- closed 1965
St Leonards West Marina (mentioned previously)
Bishopsgate Low Level-- one platform survives in good condition- closed 1916
Bow Road- closed 1949 (between Gas Factory Jn - Bow Jn) line not in regular passenger use.

Unsure if Milton Range Halt platforms closed 1932 between Gravesend and Hoo Jn still survive. Went past there about a year ago and am sure the concrete platforms were still standing

Up in the OP's area of the country, there's Park between Man Vic and Ashton and Pendleton between Salford Crescent and Swinton. I believe the old Chorley ROF Halt survived in considerable condition until it was razed for redevelopment around Buckshaw. Others that come to mind are Lowton St Mary between Golbourne and the junctions to take you either way on Chat Moss and rather a long way away, Castlethorpe between Wolverton and Roade on the WCML.

There's also Bishopstone Beach and the old Polegate down in the neck of the woods too isn't there?

It is not unlikely that one of Wedgwood and Barlaston (probably the latter, but may be the former if it makes more sense e.g. to provide a large Parkway car park) will reopen, by the way. The new LM franchise bidders have been asked to provide a costed option of doing so.

Norton Bridge has had it as the slow lines are now over a mile away to the west of the village.
