If only. @Ive decided to become a martyr and am working through the whole thing  wish i didnt offer that now
Stock up with supplies and camp in your office whilst it's on.
I love the proliferation of quangos this whole enterprise has given rise to; there's the Olympic Delivery Authority (chairman John Armitt, formerly of Network Rail), the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG), a name worthy of Chairman Mao, Comrade Stalin or Robespierre; and now I hear that there's the Olympic Legacy Company as well, I heard the other day, which presumably is responsible for flogging everything off to anyone who thinks that they could afford it afterwards. Nice work, if you can get it.
I believe that after the olympics will be a good time to be buying used BMWs (3s and 5s in particular, IIRC), as I expect that the bottom will fall out of the market when they come to sell off all the ones they've bought for ferrying people around.

As for travel, it will all be in a northerly direction for the full duration.
Will you not run out of land to keep travelling North on after a few days?
