And 2104 was itself an unusual vehicle for the route as 2105 is, for some reason, effectively the dedicated bus for the service.Enviro 400EV 2217 made it to Skipton yesterday filling in for Scania 2104 on one afternoon 59 working
It is the best selling model of recent years so it is the most common & widespread vehicle and even if it was proportional it would make up the majority but once you remove a specific operator who did have an issue and favoured MMCs generally it probably isn't as frequent generally as it seems. As emission standards have tightened bus engines have had to run at higher temperatures to make the exhaust after treatment work which probably increases the risk on all newer models compared to the past. Also vehicles with smaller engines, as some E200MMCs will have, are probably working harder and so again running at higher temperatures than models with larger engines working less hard (but use more fuel doing it). There has been numerous E200 MMC fires over the last couple of years, I wonder what makes them so susceptible to going up in flames?
We were sent pictures of 509 with rear end fire damage by a correspondent, who said the fire happened at Intack depot, which is maybe why it hasn’t been reported elsewhere.Does anybody have a picture of an article showing 509 YX69 NTM on fire as according to West Yorkshire Information Service (WYIS), it has been burnt down but I surprisingly didnt find any articles about it

The migration process is already underway, with teams from both Passenger and Transdev Blazefield working closely to ensure a seamless transition back to the platform. Once complete, Passenger will again support the operator’s apps, websites and eCommerce infrastructure, helping customers access trusted journey information and digital ticketing across the network.
“Our history with Transdev Blazefield is filled with milestone achievements that measure against the best in the UK local transport industry, and we have always deeply valued their product-led, customer-focused approach,” said Tom Quay, Advisor at Masabi. “Welcoming them back to Passenger in 2026 is an important moment for our team, one that reinforces the value of a reliable SaaS platform which can drive customer growth and maintain passenger trust. Across the whole team, we are delighted to be working together again.”
“Passenger played an important part in the growth of our digital customer offering, and we are pleased to be returning to their platform,” said Henri Rohard, Managing Director at Transdev Blazefield. “Our customers expect accurate, easy-to-access information and simple digital ticketing as part of their everyday journeys and, as we continue to assess, monitor and invest in reliable, customer-focused services across our network, returning to Passenger gives us the proven functionality, flexibility and support we need to keep improving the digital experience for our customers.”
Their decision to move to another app provider was probably one of the worst business decisions that Transdev have taken.Good news (for those who think the current app and/or website are worse than the previous ones) – they're returning, according to a press release from Passenger (the previous, 2017–24, supplier):

Transdev Blazefield Chooses Passenger, a Masabi company, to Power Customer-Facing Digital Services - Passenger
Transdev Blazefield returns to Passenger, a Masabi company, to power digital ticketing and journey information across its North of England bus network following a period with an alternative supplier.passenger.tech
Odd, it's recently improved a little - if you've an active ticket you can access with 1 click after opening the app, instead of 4.Great news! The apps delivered by Passenger (the old Supplier) are, in my opinion, far more user friendly and I gave up using the new Transdev app some time ago. I say in my opinion as I have an Uncle who will argue with anyone that the current app is the greatest thing since sliced bread!
A member called Russel made a similar comment on the last page and a discussion followed, I don’t think anything has changed since thenUsed the 843 this evening from Scarborough into York, the B9s really need replacing, or at least tidying up, it was really scruffy inside, certainly jarring when I look back to how Coastliner vehicles used to be presented.

What seems to be another side-effect of not having local knowledge of the area. Under Service Updates on the Harrogate website there is a note that "The Royal Parade is taking place on 21st & 22nd May!", suggesting a Royal visit. Looking at the stops missing info, I rather suspect this refers to...www.railforums.co.uk
The seating isn't any better on the B5s to be honest. The headrests are worn out and stained as well.Yeah okay...
But thread bear and stained seating isn't a good look.

I'm not sure. RDM/Bushub had potential to massively improve their offering with a big passionate operator onboard (their customers up until Transdev were mostly smaller independents who probably weren't a big enough customer and Diamond/Rotala who care not a single bit for passengers and user friendliness of their website). There are also a lot of Bushub/RDM features which don't seem to get anywhere near enough usage from operators. Things such as being able to see different prices for the same ticket. Adult and child fares displayed side by side. Good placement of download timetable buttons etc.Their decision to move to another app provider was probably one of the worst business decisions that Transdev have taken.
Both platforms have their pros and cons. RDM the sites are quite different between operators even if they have a core functionality. Take White Bus Surrey website for example and compare it to Diamond/Rotala and compare them both to Transdev, they are worlds apart. If someone made a 'best of' RDM/Bushub site, Bushub would be a strong competitor to Passenger.Great news! The problem I have with most apps is that there are no clear instructions. Regular users may get used to it over time but occasional ones (or me!) struggle. With the current TransdevGo, finding times for a particular stop, a useful feature, is not easy to navigate and the icons don't always convey their purpose clearly. Perhaps I'm not intuitive enough.I'm not sure. This conundrum has been discussed on here before. Not only do they looking untidy, they are also unreliable, because someone decided that a 4cl 5ltr engine would be sufficient to pull a decker on such a demanding route.Used the 843 this evening from Scarborough into York, the B9s really need replacing, or at least tidying up, it was really scruffy inside, certainly jarring when I look back to how Coastliner vehicles used to be presented.
I find Bustimes.org much easier to use....and they cover the whole country. The problem I have with most apps is that there are no clear instructions. Yes, so do I!I find Bustimes.org much easier to use....and they cover the whole country.![]()
The issue with the B5s is not just presentation but also reliability. I prefer to have a B9 on Coastliner than a B5 these days.Yeah now I've used both B5s and B9s it's pretty poor to see...
Even Arriva seem to be turning a corner and leaving Transdev behind in this instance with presentation.
A Tri-axle would have issues in Goathland with grounding and turning unfortunately as they would be great for the 843 to Scarborough. E400 MMCs weren't very popular during their time in Malton with staff, East Yorkshire has had all sorts of reliability issues with their E400 MMCs on the X46/47 runs between Hull & York so the MMC might not be the best pic for Coastliner. Looks like it's just a waiting game to see what's next for Coastliner vehicles. This conundrum has been discussed on here before. Not only do they looking untidy, they are also unreliable, because someone decided that a 4cl 5ltr engine would be sufficient to pull a decker on such a demanding route.
The obvious choice would be the Volvo B8 7.7 EvoSeti, but the tri-axle set up brings a whole world of considerations. You can pick up a E400 or Ultroliner with a Cummins 6.7 but many operators have found the ADL and Wright offerings to be unappealing.
Cummins are bringing out a 7.2 next year, it’s worth keeping an eye on
Finding times for a particular stop seems quite cumbersome on the current cap in comparison to the Passenger apps in my opinion. I find the user interface of Passenger a bit more appealing to the eye than the interface of the current Transdev Go app.The problem I have with most apps is that there are no clear instructions. I have seen photos of an unregistered all-white B8L demo at Malton depot. Apparently was out this afternoon across the Coastliner area testing clearances etc
