That's got nothing to do with a two day closure for testing and familiarisation. Even if it came in a million under budget and a year early this situation would still have to exist.

I bet if Network Rail had thought, we'll leave it until between Christmas & New Year when it won't be as busy, we'd have a thread saying it is late already etc
...plus a thread criticising them for disrupting "holiday" travel arrangements (like always happens at bank holidays, especially as Reading Station is usually closed each August one) - "millions of families getting away for Christmas face disruption as engineering works and other disruptions caused TRAVEL CHAOS" etc etc (copywrite Daily Mail)... :roll:
