I think they won't wait until reaction tests to wield the axe (and if you're taking the MT4.! you need to know which way the axe will swing :) )

It doesn't make sense for them to pay the expenses that it would cost to send a lot of candidates to do the reaction test. Not sure how long it takes, but even if the take say 1/4 of the 240 assessed so far, thats 60 candidates.

If each reaction test takes 20 mins total (admin, prep and test) that's 1200 mins/20hrs of OPC time that need to be paid for.

And that's before CBI

Furthermore, you can add to that those who didn't need to take stage one of the assessment, and a probably larger number still who don't need to sit stage two either...

Breakdown of my assessment today. Hopefully some pointers here that others may benefit from in future.

First up Group Bourdon

I was very concious of advice on here that consistency is very important. In practice on paper, I was comfortably completing 11-12 lines. During the exam, my completed lines were 10-11-11-11-11. Don't think there were errors but then you never see the one's you miss!

Mechanical Comprehension MT 4.1

Think I messed up big time here. One thing I wondered was, did the guys that didn't have to sit this part already pass 4.1 or would a pass on 4.2 still count the same?

Why I think I messed up was the way I approached it, I was very aware, again from advice on here that you don't lose points for incorrect answers so try and complete all the questions. There were some questions that I could have worked out but panicked a bit I was spending too long so went for an educated guess in order to complete more questions. Whether this approach was correct, i'll find out next week!

A very hard test, maybe less than 10 questions I was confident on.

GLOP test

Should have been easy, right? I thought so but my mind just went blank. Not a good sign when the notes were taken away and I thought **** which one was 2 horn blasts and which one was 3 again? I guess there has been some subtle changes to the passage as some things I had read on here weren't in there or were slightly different.

Dials test.

Nailed it. Everything clicked for me here, all questions answered with time to spare. Confident of 100% here.

Hoping I have scraped through on MT4.1 and Glop. If not, will make sure my 2nd life involves a TOC or FOC that either has no mechanical test or does 4.2!

Best of luck to those going onto Stage 2, hope I'm with you but don't have a great feeling. Oh and to the dude in the skinny jeans and T-Shirt maybe lose the festival wristbands for the interview!

Well done on finishing the dials test. I know what I'm doing with the dials but at a required rate of a question every 10 seconds I just couldn't finish it.

Looking around I don't think anyone else in my session finished it either and the OPC folk even said it wasn't designed to be finished. So hats off to you.

I've done other psychometric tests before and have always done well on similar tests. Seems my brain is good at working out a pattern quickly given a set of instructions.

However it will mean nothing if I failed to mechanical. Which unless the pass mark is very low, I'm sure I did.

The advice I give and have given on numerous occasions with this test is to go through it and answer all the ones you know for certain are correct, go through again and answer the ones you think are correct, then go through a last time and guess the rest. This worked for me with 80% odd I think correct. Too many candidates sit on one question and then do not complete all 40. Your chances of success are better if you complete all the questions and not say only 75% of them. This is a logic way of tackling this test as far as I am concerned. I have been told that 55% is a pass mark for the MT test but I may be wrong.

Trust me mate, if it were about money I would have left the police years ago. T&C dont mean a thing when you're on the floor scrapping with a few drugged up guys. Im just saying appreciate what you've got[/

Appreciate what drivers have got!! Well I wouldn't go talking like that in a heavy haul messroom mate, you very well go head first through the door the way the guys are reeling over the pay deal. Sell your soul for 52k? <(

Thanks.

Hopefully that means those who took it Thursday will know on Monday.

Did you find the MT4 tricky?

Good luck with stage 2.

To be honest I find mechanical comprehension really easy. Mt4 I finished and found easy but how people on hear kept saying it was tricky I started doubting myself. Cheers, hope you to get the good news

Fair play to you if you found it easy. I used to think I found it easy too, but think the time limit meant I couldn't sit and think for too long.

All the best for Watford...

Congratulations Bacooke.

Sat Wednesday morning and have been checking emails constantly as today is day 3, didn't realise it was arriving by post.

What day do you have to sit stage 2?

Anybody from Thursdays assessments got a letter yet? I'm at work all day so won't be able to check the post until late tonight.

Sorry, Choo, very much in the same boat as you. Ideally, I would be at home right now waiting to pounce on the postman, albeit not quite literally. Was quite eager to find out considering my relatively slow performance on TRP part 2 although a post by Beveridges on another thread was of some consolation.

Thought it was a good bunch of people on the Thursday morning. Thanks again to the different people who offered me lifts.

I was there on thursday and the postman went past my door this morning with nothing for me :(

Dunford, hopefully there'll be something waiting when we both get back

Fergie, fingers crossed that its there for you tomorrow. My first class post isn't always as fast as it should be.

Is this the 2nd time for anyone on here?

Funnily enough this is my second strike. I know you talked about completing the TRP Part 2 but how did you manage with the part 1 and the MT 4.1?

No news yet, Choo. Maybe it was just the letters that have gone out for the Wednesday morning session.
