Hi guys,

I also applied for this role and have been invited for assessment on the 13th. I'm struggling to get the time off work at the moment and really don't want to miss the opportunity. I thought we would get a bit more than a weeks notice. However, I'm going to try my best to get the day off, if not I'll have to let them know this week.

I've applied for Barking depot.

Congratulations on those who have got an assessment date.
I believe the cut off time is two weeks after they closed the advert , heard nothing by then it’s a “ thanks , but no thanks “

Still waiting. Fingers crossed. Wondering if being 40 may go against me. Just have to wait and see. Had a yes from South eastern on my application but have to wait til new year and have just sent in online application for freightliner. Trying to cover every angle.
Good luck to you all with your applications.

40! Ha... you're almost a spring chicken. They can't discriminate on the grounds of age so as long as they play by the rules, its something you shouldn't worry about

I started training with my toc eight years older than you.

:D:D:D I'm over 50 therefore I should have zero hopes, but I'm too old to die young. You are more than fine. Good luck.

It won't work against you.

I would being of a more mature age may work in your favour

Why would it work in their favour? That'd be discrimination based on age. Age won't come into it.

Well a week has passed since the vacancy was closed and it seems no one on here has heard anything. I'd normally say no news is good news, but for this job the opposite applies - well it will do this time next week!

A few have heard I thought? I’m sure I saw in this or another thread? I’ve still not heard, but it was for a Junior Driver role...assuming the same applies although they were less specific in the email I received after submitting the email about if I don’t hear it means I’ve been unsuccessful. I’m assuming it’s the same process.

I've just looked back and it seems you're right that a couple have heard back. In my mind maybe I was thinking they were for the Junior Driver position

Still awaiting a reply myself too. It would be much better if they emailed everybody, even if they haven’t been successful, otherwise I’ll keep wondering anyway :(

I applied for Westbury and had my assessments today.

The assessor said that they were assessing around 75 candidates over the first half of this week.

How did you find the assessment? Do you know if they're doing the trainee driver assessments at the same time as Junior Driver ones?

I don't suppose you know whether these 75 candidates are all for Westbury or for all the locations together?

How did you find the tests? Did they explain what the next stage is after assessments?

I don't im afraid. The assessor stated that some were there for Junior Dvr as well as Trainee but I have no more detail (locations etc) than that.

I found the tests a lot easier than I thought I would, but have a feeling I didnt make it through enough of the group bourdon lines (although accuracy over all else hopefully?!)

Next stage was computer tests and MMI @ Doncaster.

I had my assessment today for trainee driver at Barking. Hard to say how I done, I think I done alright but I always second guess myself afterwards.

I assume it’s standard and not enhanced pass marks?

Where was this assessment held? Also you have any idea how many their looking to take on for the London areas? And when courses start?

It was over in Reading (RG7) so over 100 miles from me. Sorry I’ve got no idea on numbers/courses etc. If I get to the second stage I’ll ask about courses then.

It is accuracy definitely. I think I did about halfway through each and met the enhanced standard with Freightliner. Was it OPC who assessed you?

It’s National Standard Rather than enhanced for DB Cargo as stated by @Atishyou when I enquired a while ago I seem to remember? Good luck to all!

Well I'll carry on waiting and hoping but not heard a peep as of yet.

That's good as long as you took care to be accurate I'm sure you'll be fine. Any idea when you'll find out your results and when the next stage is scheduled for?

I am assuming if we havent heard by Friday then its a "no thanks" :(
I think so....or whatever the 2-weeks is (not sure if the JD one was the same as there was no date listed as a closing date and it just disappeared from the website Friday or Saturday). That’s why I’d rather they told everyone regardless....I’ll still be tempted to email them and enquire. Just in case.
