Maybe i should have worded it better. Does it have something to do with tickets being issued to Dorchester Stns and Farnborough Stns rather than individual stations. Exeter St David's to Exeter Central has fares listed and they are not referred to as Exeter Stns.

Yes, I think people are getting the three types of groups confused!

No, it's nothing to do with the fact they are group stations, because tickets such as Birmingham Moor Street to Snow Hill, Liverpool Lime Street to Liverpool Central or Manchester Piccadilly to Oxford Road exist.

They are group stations therefore fares don't exist?

Although w.r.t Dorchester stations fares via there are allowed to double back between Upwey and Weymouth due to an easement.

In a similar vein there is no Ash Vale to North camp fare.

The £183.50 fare you quote is good value as it is a First Class ticket, and would obviously be more expensive than the standard class one.

The First Class ticket is £186.50 - £3 difference to what was mentioned.

I think the OP might have meant to highlight the London <> Glasgow SVR (priced by VT) with the London <> Edinburgh SVR (priced by EC). The London <> Edinburgh SVR is £183.50, compared to £108.40 for London <> Glasgow SVR - virtually the same distance and time. The reason for this huge difference is to do with time restrictions introduced by GNER/NXEC - meaning that at simplification the Off-Peak London to Edinburgh ticket was actually the old Business Saver renamed, and the old Saver became the Super Off-Peak. On Virgin it was simply the Saver being renamed to Off-Peak.

In BR days the prices from London to Edinburgh and Glasgow were identical, because of the permutations of Any Permitted routings and the need for sensible pricing beyond the central belt of Scotland. From what I recall there were no time restrictions on Savers to destinations Scotland - I think they were introduced around 1999-2001 possibly?
