Is it me or do others appreciate the sound of a 225 pulling into a terminal station and grunt and groan as they go to sleep? Bless.

Cant say i recall the grunts and groans, but yes, I do like the sound of the 225s as they pull in and die down. A lot of the noise seems to be from the fans!
Also like the sound of them kicking into life again as well.
But nothing can beat the sound of an 86/87 pulling away!!
Stood many a time at Leeds station and listened to all the funny noises 225's make as metal contracts and water cools etc.
Really does sound like they are chilling out exhausted after their journey, unlike electric sets that seem so erm, quiet and dull.
EMUs have nothing on our Electric locos. Music to the ears are the locos.
Moving away from locos. Another blissful noise (to me anyway). The suspension on the Mk3s whistling away to itself! Having grown up with these coaches, it is always music to the ears when i hear it.
Yes, I've often wondered what exactly causes that. It's certainly a strange sound, the backing chorus to the Valenta soprano.

The Cl90s make a good sound when they come to a stand too. There's a hiss of air and then a loud and prolonged "boing". I'm surprised they never became known as "Zebedees" after the character from the Magic Roundabout because of it.
In that case Phil, you might like this for AC traction sounds...:

That's because the 86s had that name (as well as can - which I still don't understand) because of the springs which were added due to some track-wear issues caused by a sizeable unsprung mass traveling at speed. (or so I believe).
Loved the noise of class 87's at Euston when starting up takes some beating IMO
Always nice to find someone else who appreciated the class 87's !!! being fortunate to live in Lancashire I had the pleasure of always going to Preston for these and travelling to London or Glasgow IMO the best class to ever grace the WCML !!!
