I have a few ideas but no absolute knowledge. Interested to know what YOU think the demands may be, then I’ll add some thoughts.

Ten years retired from Northern now, but I would suggest that you'll need to show a thorough knowledge of the company, its services and ethos....and in particular the detailed geography of its network. You will also need to demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and to short deadlines.

As you've worked as a DSM you should have some experience for the role and some good examples you can use. Think about examples where you've had to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, communicate, work with difficult people etc. Look at the job description and see what characteristics it says are important and then think of examples when you've shown those. Then when you have some good examples, practice practice practice with STAR. Ask a mate or partner to help you. They don't need to know the role, just be able to see if you've covered each element of STAR when answering a question.

Situation - explain the situation. Task - what needed to be done. Action - what did you do personally. Result - what was it and think about whether you might do it differently next time. If so, why?

Still interested to know your thoughts on the demands of the job.
