Well, Northern have paid delay-repay without quibble - I thought I might have to argue as the circumstances are slightly unusual and there isn't anywhere on the online form to explain what happened. I am in line for the princely sum of £1.55.

I put in a complaint separately, so I'll see if anything useful comes out of that. Thanks all for your comments.

That's good to hear. However, you should have gone for the free ticket option, it's worth far more.

Ask for receipts from the pub next time and submit them :lol: . A more than reasonable expense in the case of disruption in my humble opinion.

I did get a response to my complaint from Northern. What they said was:

I have looked in to your service with our Control team and found that this issue was a planning error, to which I sincerely apologise for this inconvenience.

And advised me to apply for delay-repay, which of course I've already done.

And I will bet 10p on the delay repay claim getting rejected at first requiring an appeal.
In fact not, as above (post #33). They agreed to pay £1.55 (half the value of the return portion of the ticket), and in fact did pay it into my account today. I will try not to spend it all at once.
