Train Driver Depots in the UK

Afternoon all,

I've a mate who's currently in Australia train driving who's looking to come over here in the near future. He wants to swerve London because it's too expensive a place to live so i'm trying to put a list together of all the depots in the UK to send over. I've got the south west covered already but am looking for some pointers for the rest or, if there's some other site that has this information....

There is a comprehensive list of depots here although they aren't all driver depots for passenger trains. Are you familiar with the 20 or so TOCs e.g. South West Trains, CrossCountry, etc?

Isn't that a list of traction vice traincrew depots?

OP - Virgin have them at Edinbrugh, Glasgow Polmadie, Preston, Liverpool, Manchester, Wolves and London.

GA is Ilford, Gidea Park (soon to be MTR), Southend Victoria, Colchester, Clacton, Ipswich, Norwich, Cambridge, Bishops Stortford, Chingford and London Liv St.

Maybe not for East Midlands but Northern and TPE have Drivers depots at Sheffield.

My son has just got back from being in Australia for 2 months and some friends moved over there several years ago, my son is looking at moving over there and they wouldn't ever consider moving back here.
I think that says a lot more than I could ever imagine.

Better weather isn't everything, is it? I know a girl who lived there for 15 years or so (moved out as a kid, came back as an adult) and she described the place as a poisonous desert.

What's wrong with all the Aussie's that move over here than, and all the Brits that come back here? The grass ain't always greener...

Of course it won't suit everyone but I reckon overall there are more people heading South than North.

That stands to reason giving the relative populations of the two countries. Official figures seem to suggest just over a million Brits living in Australia and just under half a million Aussies living here. We have 65 million people, they have 25 million so as a percentage of the overall population the number of expats is remarkably similar.
