Note, I am a regular user of the forum but have posted this on an alternative account for obvious reasons.
So today (25/08/23) my wife was given a TIR on a service from Leeds to York, this was because she had bought a ticket online on wednesday evening and at some point in the booking process online we believe the date either reset back to the 24th, or we clicked the wrong date. The plan was always for her to travel on the Friday. She obviously therefore did not have a VALID ticket for the travel she was making on the Friday, as the ticket was an off peak day return for the 24th.
The ticket was correctly purchased using the railstaff website and she was carrying her spouses travelcard for this. (This is all valid)
The day went as follows:
My wife cycles to Leeds station.
She tries to get through the barriers.
She cannot get through (this is now obviously because the ticket isnt valid)
1 member of staff starts looking at the ticket apparently slightly confused, because it looks valid (probably because they dont see the date issue)
A second member of staff glances at it and opens the barrier to let her through and she locks up her bike on the platform at Leeds.
She has her ticket checked by the guard on the TPE service, who notices the date is off and issues the TIR (full compliance is given with respect to giving details etc)
No additional ticket is sold to her or attempted to be given to her.
She is given advice to wait or call TPE in the next 2 days to explain what has happened (though i am not sure what number or whom she would call
She buys a new ticket in York for her journey back.
Asking the forum hive mind for advice/what would you do in this situation (we have the TIR printoff with all the info on etc....)
Its a silly one (hence the user name)
Much love to all.
