Theres now buses Windermere-Oxenholme, Scarborough-York and Cleethorpes-Scunthorpe too according to Nat rail so Windermere no longer cut off.
Replacement buses may not be able to carry large luggage or bicycles which the train is able to carry, so if you're planning on taking either or both of them then you still may have problems and I imagine a lot of passengers to the Lake District do take luggage.
When the Arnside viaduct was closed and replacement buses were being used, they seemed to cope very well with the amount of luggage that was being carted around (don't know about bikes though)

FTPE said no agreement had been made on the pay settlement but industrial action had been suspended to allow for "meaningful discussions to continue".
