Driver on 1U28 tomorrow no longer signs 68/Mk5's so it's pretty much nailed on for a 185 I'm afraid.Probably 185 on 1U28 tomorrow.

There aren't any spare FLIRTs, 19x or 80x to lease are there? If the DfT/Chiltern/ROSCO are thinking about prolonging the running of locomotive-hauled services on the Chiltern Main Line, honestly more fool them. Westminster are already unhappy with them, as are the locals, and there are perfectly suitable other DMUs available which'll be far less polluting and noisy. Although discussing this should probably be done elsewhere.
Have any MK5 rakes gone off lease yet, does anyone know?
No, 68025/TP02 are confirmed as working 1U80 across the Pennines this evening therefore there are no sets at Scarborough other than 68029/TP12 which is on Scarborough TMD, that one is down for a one way ECS move to Longsight whenever they decide to move it.So not looking too hopeful for my planned trip on 1U28 tomorrow morning.![]()
I've put all the locos in Bold as they're still part of the TPE pool. I'll update it again, when they start to get returned to DRS nearer December. Any updates or corrections would be appreciated.TPE Class 68 fleet list (as of 15th October 2023)

1U29 ex MAN should be a 185 so likely only one set out again tomorrow starting on 1U23 05:35 MAN-SCA
Reduced to just 15/16 as per my initial post.Prohibited Platform 12 upwards, They are hoping the restriction will be lifted for start of service next Monday.
Those services that do run through Leeds are using alternative platforms such as 1U24/1U27 which used platform 11 this morning.
Still shown as at 02:00hrs this morning 68's are not permitted to use platforms 12 to 16.Reduced to just 15/16 as per my initial post.
68029/TP12 have been out of use since Saturday morning, 029 worked 1P05 over from Manchester having been fuelled on LO, As per the diagram on arrival at York 1P05 ran ECS to Scarborough Depot where for whatever reason it was fuelled again however the result of that was it was over fuelled (fuel all over the fuel tank and and other parts of the loco as seen at York after working 1U44) it later came off the depot as booked working 1U44 10:48 SCA-YRK but on arrival at York the train crew thought it had an oil leak so was taken out of traffic, it later ran ECS from York to Scarborough Depot where its been stabled since awaiting a move back to LO.My bold.
That means with effectively no Mk5s at Scarborough for start of play tomorrow (Thursday) it could be a very slim provision. Hopefully just a blip but with nothing leaving Longsight for the East today I am intrigued. Two sets did come from Crewe this week (one on Monday and one on Wednesday) with two going the other way.
So today did we lose TP12 and what ever set was expected off Longsight ?.
All eyes on 1U23 and/or 1U29 tomorrow as I wonder what they will produce from Manchester (Longsight).
Thanks for the info re TP12+68029Still shown as at 02:00hrs this morning 68's are not permitted to use platforms 12 to 16.
No updated Restriction of Use seen to show that it now only effects P15 & P16.
1U23 was delayed outside Leeds this morning as it was shown arriving into P12D which isn't permitted, It was amended to arrive into Platform 11B but had to wait for 2N02 to depart from platform 11C at 06:47 before it could get into Leeds.

As per my post above 1U29 was expected to be a 185 and was 185129, 1U23 was 68025 so just the one set out today, the rest of the diagrams are covered by single 185's.
Also as per my post the Wednesday moves from Longsight to Crewe South Yard and return were cancelled, 68030 ran from Crewe GB Depot to the South Yard where it should have been attached to TP11 and now awaits movement to LO, 68027 & TP08 were seen on Longsight yesterday afternoon 15:50hrs
TP12 & 68029.Thanks for the info re TP12+68030. Perhaps a low oil reading was read as low fuel oil ?.
I assume it is the availability of the right crew that dictates what happens from the West side of the Pennines ?.

Thanks. And updated my TP12 error (you know your getting older when.....).TP12 & 68029.
Yes some jobs are covered with overtime and not necessarily with drivers from a link that has Class 68 competency.
The availability of sets also dictates what happens and this week hasn't been great so far.
No problemThanks. And updated my TP12 error (you know your getting older when.....).
As for the problem at Leeds - are two different sources of official information varying ?.
Thanks. There's so much conflicting information going around. I can't remember how I wrote it to start with. I've updated it again.Well you've got 020 & 025 wrong, the ones in the XHTP pool for use with DRS are 019, 020, 022 & 031
025 hasn't been out of the TPEX pool, It was at Stoke Marcroft for work then returned to LO on Monday and returned to traffic yesterday.
Usual British Railway efficiency thenGood job I don't drive any trains through Leeds then! As that was the notice posted yesterday when I signed on.
Spotted this in RTT for Friday.
Longsight to Crewe, probably TPE Mk5s ?.
Nothing in the opposite direction.
Thanks for that.68027 & TP08

Thanks for the current picture.
I am left wondering if another set will head to Longsight from Crewe South Yard to balance TP08+68027 leaving for Crewe South Yard today ?.
As we could expect (hope) two sets in action today as Longsight has sent one out today and one out yesterday. So three tomorrow (Saturday) or at least on the next weekday. I have a feeling two on a Sunday is the current norm and three on Monday-Saturday.
I suppose that recovery might dip when a crew are required to bring back the failed TP12+68029. If its 68029 unwell then maybe another 68 sent to Scarborough might be a clue ?. Might just be a bit of fitter attention though as The suspected oil leak could be the surplus diesel needing cleaning up and/or no more than a loose wire on an oil pressure gauge/sender !.
Ah, Indeed, you must have been typing that while I was updating my post with what I was discovering on RTT !.68029/TP12 hasn’t failed.
It’s working today on 1U64/1U67 and then 1U80 1948 Scarborough-Manchester Piccadilly then 5H80 to Longsight.
Just a point of interest. RTT would suggest there are no 68 diagrams off Longsight on Saturdays now until 11/11, and none on Sundays until 26/11. So whatever ends up at Scarborough tonight could be providing the only weekend workings / staying up there until Monday. Thanks for that.

Thats a point. Last Saturday it was 1P05 Manchester Piccadilly to York which was an ALTERED WTT schedule. So might not show up yet (or might not happen again).Just a point of interest. That's wishful thinking I'm afraid. STP diagram changes are inputted a number of weeks in advance. There's 5P05 from Ardwick TMD to form 1P05 tomorrow. Not saying it couldn't be a 68 as a last minute change, but it's not planned to be.Thats a point. Last Saturday it was 1P05 Manchester Piccadilly to York which was an ALTERED WTT schedule. Oh well. And anyway it is more likely a 185 will appear where a Mk5 set should than the other way round. That's wishful thinking I'm afraid.
