TPE 170s - Update

They have clearly been changed to match the design of the 185s (possibly a tactic to fool the passengers into thinking that they are the same trains? )

Im suprised they put the First logo on the front after the commotion with Keolis, looks nice though.

Thameslink doesn't imply ownership by GoVia OR Keolis, yet First Transpennine Express (when you look at the other FirstGroup franchises in the UK - First Great Western, First Scotrail) implies TPX is solely a FirstGroup franchise; that was the issue.

You will need to go to the area and prove that he trespassed to be able to make that claim legitimately. If you are unable to do so, then don't make the accusation.

it was behind the white line so... DEFFINITLY LEGAL

They arn't new, they have come from South West trains, who have replaced them with 158s.

I doubt they'd be 'booked' onto any others except Hull, I was thinking more of random diagrams.

They will be booked Man Picc - Hull and that only.

Only Hull and Man Pic/Air crews are trained on them so the chance of them getting any where else is unlikely - and even then it wouldn't be any further than York/Preston/Sheffield.

I was walking up to the station across St George's Square and saw it coming in, heading towards Manchester, so I sprinted into the station, bought my ticket and got onto the platform, just in time to have a quick look and get a couple of pics as it departed for Manchester at 15:59. It was no 170302, so the same unit photographed at Woodlesford. I guess maybe that's the first one?

It was coupled to the rear of a 158 unit and I don't think the 170 was in service.





Not great quality I'm afraid, taken quickly on my mobile.

170301 also out today, caught it between Leeds and Huddersfield on the 1340 off Leeds- typically full and standing!

Capacity of them is not enough - that much is certain. I travelled 13.40 off Leeds to Huddersfield and it was full, fair few standing, FC was empty! They are a little slow off the mark but otherwise they are a reasonable bit of kit. The train crew were saying they are only here for a year or so - not quite sure what to make of it or whats coming instead. (180's?) Probably just the usual canteen talk.
