An odd comparison!
Surely true lovers of railways accept that steam is the only true form of traction?
*ducks for cover*
everyone knows Pacers hold this title.
I'll agree with you, we don't need another Pacer debate!
And if this thread turns into one, it will be locked!
yes tornado is likely to come bristol way
+
it also starts at Gloucester
I seem to recall from a games thread on here a while ago that steam traction is barred from Birmingham NS due part to how enclosed the station is, and the fact that it has both the station concourse and a two-level shopping centre directly above the line.Sometimes I have wondered if they can get a steam train through Birmingham New Street

Send Tornado or a pair of 50s through New Street, and ye are looking at a major smoke inhalation problem for anyone about the station or adjoining shopping centre. On the bright side though, that's exactly why Moor St. was built only a three minute walk away! 8)

50s were a common enough sight at BNS in the 1980s.
I knew that steam was banned through Brum NS, though my comment about the 50s was only an anecdotal one based on the amount of clag they normally give off.50s have also ran through New Street on charters more recently as have other "claggy" locos. The ban is only on steam locos.

Is the Tornado ever likely to come down Bristol way...?
