Ah, I see what you mean. I was saying that a runaround (which does require two lines) does for freight trains what a turnback does for a unit. I dare say that a lot of turnbacks were runarounds in a past life when there were more locos and fewer units.

Ahh. Those are what I consider to be Freight/Goods Loops. From what I see you also get goods loops using the loop and the mainline to runaround locos.

I think some of those are also referred to as Sidings :/

I thought a freight or goods loop was where a freight train waits to be overtaken by a passenger train.

Mostly we wait for Freights...

We have a goods loop that is almost exclusively used to run around a loco or turn back our passenger services.

I use a passenger loop when I'm typically held for a fast service (I doubt it could fit a Freight)

Loops are like sidings, they have many uses and many definitions.
