I wanted to find out/discuss if ticket acceptance between TOCs ever happens if there is a "TOC-related" fault? Like a staff shortage or train fault?
I ask as twice I've had the same train cancelled on long journeys for two reasons, a major signalling problem at Reading and other a staff shortage severely affecting services. For the signalling problem I was allowed to take a very different route to my advanced ticket with two other companies, yet for the staff shortage I was given a very short "no" and given either a lengthy diversion or a dragging replacement bus service. I feel like the Franchise system can really harm the passengers experience in these cases.
