It's happening now - seems to happen this time of evening -on the iPads only.

I tried again as soon as Id seen you post this, on iPad and iPhone, both on old software and it again was fine. This is just standard Safari going onto the forum in the web browser.

I too experienced these problems. I was on old software but even when I updated to iOS 8.0.2 it was the same problem.

However, I noticed this was in wifi, when I turned wifi off and went to 3G it worked fine, so I'm wondering if there is a problem with service provider???. I'm with sky if that helps any define anything?

I was with 02 Broadband but Sky bought them over

EDIT: iPhone (4S) now works fine on 3G, on also on the iPad when connected to the internet by Bluetooth through the iPhone/3G.

Will need to confirm it doesn't work at the moment with a direct Sky Broadband wifi connection.

Confirmed that for me, the site doesn't work properly with a direct Sky Broadband wifi connection but does work with a 3G internet connection via O2.

Aha. I'm on sky broadband also. I'm currently having the same probs, so have switched wifi off and it has worked ok on 3G.

Anyway I think we have the answer. Murdoch is probably retaliating for all the noise being caused by NR outside the News UK offices at London Bridge.

I'm still having the issue. I'm also on Sky broadband.

I have noticed something however:

When I try to access a page on this forum... At the bottom in the status bar it says:

Looking up delivery.myswitchads.com

Must be something to do with it right? I don't get it on any other site, only this one.

Any thoughts? I'm tech-illiterate!

Just to complicate the issue, my Sky Broadband is actually connected via a traditional copper (ex-GPO) telephone line, rather than satellite dish. As I said, Sky bought over O2 Broadband and inherited their customers. Don't know if that affects anything, but the routing will be different obviously.

Interestingly, on the PC via Chrome, the forum hung due to an issue with flash on the adverts.

Now the interesting thing is at work we've just been upgraded from IE8 to IE9 and all of a sudden it hasn't been happening when I've been on at lunchtime and the website itself is much faster, more or less matching most other websites now.

I conclude that the site's optimisation might be for IE9 and this may be a factor?

I'm also on Sky Broadband, the site works well on my Windows PC through WiFi but is slow to load on my Macbook on the same WiFi (banner loads and rest of page takes at least 15-20 secs). Using Chrome on both machines.

Another vote for 'this site is no longer usable with Safari on my iPad' which is a shame because it's iPad for reading and desktop for working, which is what I'm using to post this.

ISP is Plusnet and other forums are working normally. I do hope it can be fixed.

I find the easiest way to browse sites like this is to open the threads that interest you in new tabs - most browsers you can CTRL-Click and your new tab will open with the thread in the background. CTRL-W to close down the tabs when you've read them, or posted your reply.

That doesn't mitigate the slowness issue, not for me at least. Tapatalk is working fine but sometimes it's nice to be able to browse the forum on a big screen which I'm no longer able to do

I am currently browsing on my parents iPad on iOS8 on WiFi with no problem. We are with BT as our ISP

Correct but businesses tend to shy away from newer versions in case things don't work - indeed some sites sadly only work properly with the older browser versions. At work our default is IE9 but until a few months ago was IE8 but I upgraded them as it was getting to a stage where IE8 was causing a few problems

I've had issues when browsing used public Wi-Fi on Chrome (on Mac OSX). I've not experienced any problems when using my home network on with Mac or Windows 7 using Chrome - or on IOS devices.

Do you therefore think that much more final testing work more needs to be done before any new version is deemed to be suitable for use by business organisations ? Surely 2014 is where much gained expertise can be brought to bear in order to reassure commercial clients.

Massive amounts of testing in our case! I work for a multinational pharma company, only this year did we upgrade to windows 7 and IE9, from vista and IE7! Before that we were on windows 2000 until around 2008...

Nope it's changed now as it seems like people on Sky Broadband, using iOS7, at certain times of the day, are finding the forum really slow to load. Unfortunately as it's not something I can replicate I can't get our Supplier to look into it, yet.

The issue about back button, which only seemed to affect a limited number of devices at certain times of the day, was fixed a couple of weeks ago (it was a third-party issue affecting a number of vBulletin forums) and I've had no more reports of this since.

I had two back button instances last night actually; I just never bother to report it. Half the time I can't remember afterwards which thread / page it was anyway!

Slowness with delivery.myswitchads.com affects me too. It's one of the advertisers of banner ads on the forums
