I think it's Ad related. The first click clears the Ad, the second (or sometimes third) actually goes back.

It's a pain.

I'm not experiencing any problems myself at present on any of my devices, but this sometimes happens on various websites and seems to be a problem across the internet not just here. An issue was brought up a few months ago (the thread is still open as someone else had a problem recently).

Don't know whether it's my computer or my eyes but the font for the different topics looks slightly different as well.

Yes, this changed yesterday for me, and on other sites using VBulletin.

Yet when browsing on my phone, the font is as it was before.

Happening for me too, on safari on my iPad I can be pulling the same page back 4+ times before the previous page finally comes back up!

It's to do with the adverts. Your browser is interpreting the ad loading mechanism as a change of page inside a 'frame', and when you press back, is attempting to reload the previous action inside that frame.

What you can do about that, probably very little. It would be either for you to contact your browser manufacturer to report a bug (although you'd probably be told that's intended functionality) or for the forum staff to contact their advertiser to request a change in the loading mechanism (who would probably be told they're not interested).

EDIT: I'm unsure of how advertising integrates into the forum software (I'm not familiar with VBulletin at all), but this could also be to do with whatever plugin or extension they're using to achieve this. If this was an issue that was adversely affecting a lot of members, perhaps the forum staff could look for an alternative plugin. Though there could also be arguments for running a subscription-based service in return for not displaying adverts, much like 4Chan now has, but I'm not getting involved in the politics of that!

It's working 'properly' for me today. Whatever happened to change it seems to have un-happened (or something else has cancelled the effect out).

Well, there is one thing you can do, but it is frowned upon by the forum staff. ;)

On that point, I'd much rather like to be able to offer a small annual donation for the forum's upkeep in exchanging for blocking advertisements.

Different font style on my PC too (and I use chrome). At first I thought I'd knocked the zoom down to 90%...

Hello!

Just to reassure you it's something the forum team are looking into. I'll keep this thread updated with any progress. I am currently investigating the option of updating the plugin on our end to the latest version, which should make the app's features work fully again. :)

Mike, is this anything to do with the matter of the missing symbol that was shown on forum index pages that I reported to Mojo and received an answer that the function of noting posts subscribed to and read had been removed in June of this year, as it seemed to serve no purpose but had a big impact on server loads and forum performance.

If so, SSC seem not to bother with such worries and they use the same vBulletin 3.8.8 format as RailUK and they are still showing the same symbol on their index pages.

It's been a busy couple of weeks and the time I need to get it done hasn't materialised (especially as I'm trying to do it in off-peak hours for the forum in case of any issues) - will try and get the update done as soon as I can - I haven't forgotten, don't worry! :)

I'm starting to have major problems with this website too now. On safari it just won't load at all, on chrome it's so slow as to be unusable, and I can only really use it with tapatalk.

Any idea what's going on?

No changes have been made in several months so would suggest computer issues.

Very slow for me - seems to load the header but the forum content sometimes won't load. Using an iPhone and connected via Sky Broadband.

Same for me on an iPad. I've just given up since it won't load at all.

(FF and IE on PC are fine but most of the time I don't use a PC)

Same here on iPad with iOS 7 - sporadically.

Home page loads fine, but when clicking to a forum or thread, at best, it doesn't load anything that can't be seen without scrolling. At worst nothing loads at all. All other websites fine. Been happening since the weekend.

Unfortunately I can't replicate that problem on iPad iOS7. As I say, nothing has been changed in a fair while, so may be confined to specific devices & the recent issues in the press. Unfortunately I can't even go about getting the relevant people to fix it because I don't know anything about it, and can't get it to occur on my devices (or that of people I know!) Any ideas?

I've been having problems too for several days now but only on iPad and iPhone (iOS7). The main site loads OK, but on clicking on "new posts" or any individual thread, it just hangs. Other vBulletin sites work fine strangely enough.

Still works OK on a desktop Mac.
