It's the same service number but a different route back to Ripon. It goes direct rather than going all round the houses which the outward journey did.
If that's not OK then it's back to Ripon at 1317 for another move as Paul says.
(Or wait to the summer when there are more buses..... No that's not a serious suggestion)

I have found the answer.....
We walk to Ripon Bus Station to stand 3 and board the 1415 Eddie Brown Tours service 143 to York railway station that arrives there at 1530 on Tuesday afternoon.

We then board the 1559 First York route 10 (the Claret Line) to Poppleton (Lord Nelson), arriving there at 1617 on Tuesday afternoon.
Well we are actually stuck as far as I can see unless we get the same bus out again.
So we trudge the mile and a bit (is there a maximum walking distance in this game?) to Poppleton station and catch the 1713 Northern train to Hammerton arriving at 1724 on Tuesday evening.

That's why I selected Poppleton as I knew we could get out with the railway station

All these bus and train journeys make us feel the need for a long leasurely meal which we enjoy and suitably refreshed, we board the 2051 Northern service to Poulton-le-Fylde that arrives at 2249 on Tuesday night.

Nothing for it but to trudge uphill to the Royal George Hotel for the night with an early alarm call, then its off up the road to the railway station where we board the 0542 Northern service to Workington that arrives at 0828 on Wednesday morning.
We make our way to the rail station for the 1211 TPE departure to Edinburgh Haymarket, arriving 1333 Wednesday
(Not sure you can make the bus station in Workington in 7 minutes though... but that bus does leave town via the station so you'd still catch it)

I am absolutely certain that it is possible to do Workington train station to the bus station, and at a very leisurely pace too (by my standards)
We take the 14:00 ScotRail service to Bellshill, arriving 14:46
Traveline says it takes 9 minutes to walk it - so it depends what you mean by leisurely. I think I'd struggle
Anyhow I've had enough for tonight - wonder where I'll be in the morning?

Once again, I will see what I can do.....
We realise that the railway affords a much wider scope for travel at such an early hour, so we make our way into the railway station, have a nice bar of chocolate to sustain us, then board the 0642 XC service to Newton Abbot that arrives at 0929 on Thursday morning.

There's nothing to prevent you using the same route, what you can't do is get back on the same timetabled service that you just left.

Indeed this is so and we will wait for nearly an hour looking at the sea front before boarding the 1155 Stagecoach Devon service 12 to Paignton bus station that arrives at 1214 on Thursday afternoon.
Now on Stagecoach route 88 at 1315 to Totnes railway station at 1343 on Thursday.
Then I was perfectly OK at Fountains a few days ago - there were two later buses back to Ripon after the one I arrived on that could have been used
Still on with the game - it's moved a lot since then
Let's get the Tally Ho 164 bus that leaves at 1348 for Kingsbridge bus station, arriving at 1434, Thursday afternoon

With the benefit of hindsight and as a result of Zoe being an excellent arbiter of the rules of her very own quiz, it was most unfortunate with regards to that particular occasion. However, this rule clarification came at a timely point for all of us, as a reminder.
We spend quite an amount of time exploring the area and have a nice afternoon tea, before walking to the bus station where we board the 1640 First in Devon and Cornwall service 93 to Plymouth (Bretonside bus station) that arrives there at 1742 on Thursday afternoon.

Again we are fortunate with connection times as we have less than 30 minutes to wait before we board the 2230 XC service to Manchester Piccadilly that arrives at 0012 in the very early hours of Friday morning.
