Some nifty footwork sees us on the 0603 NT service to Halifax, arriving 0636 on Thursday morning.

A walk up the street to the bus station takes us to stand C2 where we board the 0655 First Calderdale and Huddersfield service 591 to Heptonstall (Smithwell Lane) that arrives there at 0736 on Thursday morning

We admire the ancient parish church and the Octagonal Methodist Church, and pay our respects to the grave of Sylvia Plath.

Then we are tempted to carry on to Blackshaw Head, but that would be cruel to the next player for, as far as we know, the only way back is on the same service we used to get there. So, instead, we board the 0836 Metro-Connect service E, back via the Turning Circle, to Hebden Bridge New Rd, arriving there at 0846 Thursday morning.

This gives us time to stroll through the town and the park that runs parallel to the canal to the bus stops outside the railway station, but our intended onwards rail journey is forgotten as we see and board the 1010 Transdev Keighley and District service 500 that offers a trip across moorland and through the K&WVR towns of Oxenhope and Haworth, before it arrives at its terminus at Keighley bus station at 1100 on Thursday morning.

We join the 11:12 Northern service bound for Carlisle, which we ditch at Hellifield arr 11:37 on Thrusday

We must be careful as Hellifield has a limited service, so we have a quick look around the area, grabbing a coffee and board Northern's 2H88 departure, the 1340 service to Carlisle, which arrives there at 1533 on Thursday afternoon.

We then have an exhilerating [if cramped] run through the Lune Gorge on VT's 1549 to Preston, arriving 1656, Thursday afternoon.

We board the 17:19 Northern service to Barrow, arriving 18:25 Thursday

Barrow-in-Furness is supposed to be quite a nice place, I haven't been there but I will do soon, I'm in Blackpool regularly so might make a day trip up in the Lakes

We stay in Barrow-in-Furness for a quick look in the shops and a lovely dinner before boarding First TransPennine's 1U82, the 2008 to Manchester Piccadilly, arriving there at 2230 on Thursday evening. I have even decided that this will be operated by 185149, a unit that always stalks me! :P

We take the 22:51 (time quoted for Picc Gardens) Stagecoach Manchester route 205 to Haughton Green bus terminus, arrriving 23:23

We call it a night in Haughton Green, hopefully someone will take us in for the night, and in the morning we board the 0640 Stagecoach Manchester route 347 to Guide Bridge Station, arriving there at 0656 on Friday morning.

We take the 7:27 Stagecoach Manchester route 317 to Reddish, Houldsworth Square (thats outside Reddish South station to you) arriving 08:03 Friday

We then grab breakfast and take the absolute pleasure of taking Northern's 2J45, the 0926 to Stalybridge via Guide Bridge, arriving there at 0949 on Friday morning, famous for having one service a day on Friday's only!

We take the 10:03 Stagecoach route 237 to Padfield, Hadfield station arriving 11:29

We then zoom and hope we catch Northern's 2H73, the 1131 to Manchester Piccadilly, arriving there at 1212 on Friday afternoon.

Lovely. In that case I wouldn't mind visiting my home town, as I've bee travelling for a long time, so we'll take CrossCountry's 1V14, the 1708 service to Cardiff Central, arriving there at 2027 on Friday evening.

We take the 20:53 Arriva Trains Wales service to Crewe, arriving 23:53

We stay in a Travelodge and in the morning we embark on Virgin's 1A13, the 0829 service to London Euston, arriving there at 1004 on Saturday morning.

We take a Northern Line that leaves Euston at 10:17, arriving at Tottenham Court Road at 10:21

We then board Metroline bus route 7 from Tottenham Court Road at 1031 we where head to Ladbroke Grove station, arriving there at 1103 on Saturday morning.

We take a 1109 Circle line to Edgware road, arrving 12:15 Saturday (having rode round the full loop)

We then board Stagecoach London route 205 from Edgware Road at 1221 we where head to Kings Cross station, arriving there at 1249 on Saturday afternoon.

This last bus journey kept good time and we just have enough time to board the 1300 EC service to Edinburgh that arrives at 1731 on Saturday afternoon.

Fortunately, that too is on time, and we catch the 1742 SR to Inverness, arriving 2102 Saturday evening

Time to sample a Saturday night bus journey, so we make our way to the bus stop outside Marks and Spencers store in Falcon Square where we board the 2145 Stagecoach Bluebird service 10A that arrives at Elgin bus station at 2320 on Saturday night.

We then check into a hotel and after a decent sleep we board ScotRail's 1A48, the 1038 service to Aberdeen, which arrives there at 1210 on Sunday afternoon.
