In the hope that all the recent rail-connected matters have been solved, we decide to take a short late-evening omnibus ride and board the 2214 Oxford Bus Company service 5 to Oxford railway station that arrives there at 2218 on Tuesday evening.

We make the effort to escape these surroundings by entering the station and boarding the 22:30 Cross Country service to Birmingham International arriving at 23:34 on Tuesday

A change of TOC sees us next board the 2348 LM service to Stechford that arrives at 2357 on Tuesday evening.

With no further prospect of rail travel from this station tonight we exit the station and go to the bus stop that serves it where we find a suitable onward journey. We board the 00:12 Nat. Ex West Midlands 11C service to Acocks Green (Westley Road) arriving at 00:24 on Wednesday morning.

As that last bus disappears from view on its final two minute journey into the bus depot at Fox Hollies Road, we resign ourself to waiting for the very early first morning bus and board the 0351 NXWM service 11C to Harborne (War Lane) that arrives there at 0431 on Wednesday morning.

We then board the 05:35 NXWM 11A service to Selly Oak (Sainsburys) arriving there at 05:41 Wednesday morning

We join with the early morning commuters and board the 0549 NXWM service 98 to Birmingham New Street railway station that arrives there at 0608 on Wednesday morning.

We make our way into the station and decide to head back to Scotland. We board the 0619 Virgin Trains service to Edinburgh Waverley where we eventually arrive at 1021 on Wednesday morning

We watch a number of arrivals and departures as we wait the permitted connection time. We then continue with a journey along a reopened route as we board the 16:05 First Scotrail service to Bathgate arriving at 17:15 on Wednesday.

We are careful when stating the name of our intended destination as it is one often said incorrectly and we board the 1734 First ScotRail service to Milngavie that arrives at 1837 on Wednesday evening.

Once again we cross the city of Glasgow, this time onboard the 18:42 FSR service to Cambuslang arriving at 19:19 on Wednesday evening.

We may as well go to the end of the line. So we board the 21:01 Scotrail service to Lanark, arriving at 21:12 Wednesday evening.

Time to sample the delights afforded by an evening stopping train, so we next board the 2123 First ScotRail service to Partick that arrives there at 2226 on Wednesday evening.

We continue our travels of the local rail network by joining the 22:34 FSR service to Barnhill arriving at 22:56 on Wednesday night.

We decide to see in the last of the day with a run out to the area of Loch Lomond so we board the 2310 First ScotRail service to Balloch that arrives there at 0011 on Thursday morning.

With no further opportunity for onward rail travel we settle down for the night. We depart on the first train of the morning, the 06:23 FSR service, to Coatbridge Sunnyside arriving at 07:33 on Thursday morning.

We are indeed fortunate that an onward service that meets the requirements of the minimum connection time of 5 minutes that currently prevails at this railway station, so we look to a large city railway station to travel to with numerous onward connection opportunities and board the 0739 First ScotRail service to Edinburgh that arrives there at 0829 on Thursday morning.
