We examine the Saturday services running in both the Crewe and the Shrewsbury directions and find that come what may, there are no onward services for quite some time, so we resign ourselves to wait for the first onward one and board the 0522 ATW service to Carmarthen that arrives there at 0949 on Saturday morning

We struggle to find another departure this evening so retire to the nearest 'Tafarn' for liquid refreshment.

The following morning we are back at the bus depot to board the 09:32 Lloyds Coaches T2 service. We venture through the splendid countryside and alight at Portmeirion, Tollgate (A487) arriving 11:00 on Sunday morning.

I think we established last time that this stop is immediately outside the station car park and therefore is acceptable as serving the station

We therefore take the 1340 Ffestiniog Railway departure and ride to Porthmadog, arriving at 1455 Sunday afternoon

Sunday is not exactly the best day of the week to seek out a range of regular transport options so after looking around the railway station environs, we decide to take another ride of this heritage narrow-gauge railway and we board the 1600 Ffestiniog Railway service to Penrhyn that arrives there at 1620 on Sunday afternoon.

Sorry to disappoint you, but you have used the "Penrhyn" that is on the Arriva Cymru Colwyn Bay/Rhyl number 12 bus service....The "Penrhyn" that was last referred to is on the Ffestiniog Railway, 20 minutes north of Portmadog....

There doesn't seem to be a formal hold, so I'll jump in.

We have a problem - plenty of buses serving Penrhyn(deudraeth) but none call at the Cambrian View stop outside the station on a Sunday and the rules won't allow us to walk into the village

So the only way out is the 1825 FFR departure, which we take to Minffordd, arriving at 1835 Sunday evening

The above move by harry42 hasn't been struck through though or declared. I will declare it void at this time though as an incorrect location was used and harry42 has until 2148 to post the next move. If not then we will take dzug2s latest move as valid.

Time embargo over....

We know of the dearth of buses in this area late on Sunday, but Ffestiniog Railway service we arrived on does in fact afford us interchange facilities with the main line rail services so we choose the first available one and eventually board the 2035 ATW service to Pwllheli that arrives there at 2107 on Sunday evening.

With no prospect of onwards travel this evening we explore this settlement to see what it has to offer.

The following morning we are back at the railway station to catch the first departure of the day, the 06:29 ATW service, which conveys us to the request stop at Dyffryn Ardudwy arriving 07:29 on Monday morning.

Wishing to start the new week with a feeling to visit a noted settlement with a historic castle, we next give a "request stop" hand signal to the driver of the oncoming train and board the 0756 ATW service to Harlech that arrives there at 0810 on Monday morning.

Not wanting to get stuck in this location for two hours we board the next available train - the 08:25 ATW service. We take a trip on this service across the famous viaduct at Barmouth to alight at the station on the southern side of the estuary. Now a shadow of its former self is Morfa Mawddach (Barmouth Junction), where we have requested the train to stop, arriving at 08:56 on Monday morning.

The nature of the timetable in this area gives us the opportunity to visit the castle, and even more surprised to find it's free entry today.

We enjoy the delights of this piece of Welsh history, though all too soon we are back at the railway station to continue our travels. We board the 12:53 ATW service to its terminus at Pwllheli arriving at 13:10 on Monday.

Whilst there are bus services from Station Square, we see that we would be unable to avail ourselves of these as there is not a bus stop immediately outside the railway station, so being thwarted of bus journeys to settlements at the foot of the Lleyn peninsula, we board the first available train service, which is the 1338 ATW service to Shrewsbury that arrives there at 1727 on Monday evening.

We don't have too long to wait for a train to return us to the Principality. We board the 17:40 ATW service and alight at Haverfordwest arriving 22:15 on Monday night.
