Not long to wait before the next departure. We board the 15:40 Lloyds Coaches service 34 and travel to Aberllefenni (War Memorial, Pensarn) arriving 16:00 on Friday afternoon

Up in these Welsh hills gives a chance to explore some of the byways but we are mindful that we do not miss the next bus from the terminus that we arrived at, so we ensure that we are back at the bus stop in time to board the 1705 Lloyds Coaches service 34 to Corris (Esgairgeilog stop on the A487) that arrives there at 1714 on Friday afternoon.

You must use the first available service to reach your destination after allowing for the minimum interchange time. You may not wait more for more than two hours after the first available service (to any destination) after allowing for the minimum interchange time.

My mind has suddenly become a total blank with regard to the understanding of that rule. The last posting arrived at the National Express stop at 1710 on a Sunday, but the next service outwards run by National Express that I can find does not leave until 1920, which exceeds that two-hour time period by just 10 minutes.

So the question is MUST that 1920 service be taken, regardless of where it goes, or is a later departure to a different destination legitimate?

Another alternative is to walk into Warndon Village - but it's too far for current (or even former) rules and is probably next morning anyway.

I have sent a PM to Zoe in order to obtain a rules clarification. But please note, no-one has actually called an official halt to the quiz.

The two hour period starts from the departure time of the first available service from the location in question, regardless of the destination. You may not wait at this location for longer than this period. For example if you are at Location A and there is 15 minute wait for a bus to destination B and a 3 hour wait for a bus to destination C then you must take the bus to destination B. You must also use the first available transport that serves your destination, no waiting for a later bus to the same destination even with the two hour limit. In the case of Paul's question, if the first available bus is at 1920 then that is when the clock starts and the two hour period runs until 2120. If there are no other buses until after 2120 then the 1920 must be used.

Exhausted from all this travelling, we book into the Marine Hotel and ask for an early morning alarm call. We awake early as a result, but realise that today is a Bank Holiday Monday and are fortunate to have obtained the bus timetable from reception for that type of service provision, so we make our way back to the bus stop, where we board the 0647 Cardiff Bus service 94 to Lower Penarth (Windsor Terrace) that arrives there at 0712 on Monday morning.

If there is transport available then it must be used, as posted above you may not wait longer than the two hours after the first available transport. I've had a quick look at some timetables and can see at least one service available so we remain at Barry Island Hotel at 2255 on Sunday. There is now a 1 hour period until 1240 during which only Paul may submit a new move, it then becomes open floor.
