We are pleased to find only a 20 minutes wait watching the early trains before our train turns up and we board the 06:54 First Capital Connect service to Burgess Hill arriving there at 09:04 Tuesday Morning

With the obligatory minimum connection time we board the 09:09 Southern service and alight at Worthing at 09:36 on Tuesday morning.

Ignoring the need to take a turn around the excellent Worthing pier, we next board the 0955 Southern service to Swanwick that arrives at 1100 on Tuesday morning

Having arrived in this settlement we find out it is one of the main strawberry growing areas of the country and also the home of the National Air Traffic Service - responsible for keeping planes in the air.

However instead of continuing around the River Hamble we retrace our route for some distance and join the 11:11 SWT unit to Portsmouth & Southsea arriving at 11:42 on Tuesday

Yes that is the case, the first available transport is 0222 and so the two hour limit expired at 0422. Back we go then to Derby at 0210 on Tuesday. High Dyke has the first opportunity to post the next move.

We arrived at Leicester St Margaret's B/S; though sadly there are no Midland Red buses nor the concrete edifice that adorned the centre of the B/S in the 60's and 70's. The steel and glass structure though practical has little architectural merit of note as we wait for a bus onwards.
