Rather than making any void declarations at this time, we will give "Death" the opportunity to confirm the departure time in their post and rephrase it so it does not read like a question as I believe it was the intention to make the journey but since they were new to the game, they were not entirely sure if it would be valid or not.

It is about 16 hours since you made this posting, but no response has been forthcoming as yet.

Sorry guys, been offline all day and didn't see this pop up. :(

My chain so far has run thus:
  • I jumped on LM service 2K65 from WFJ to MKC, ex WFJ plat 8 18:56 on Tuesday, and due MKC plat 2 19:36 on Tuesday. (I forgot to post the departure time in the OP, but I did include the headcode.)
  • Since then, GnoLife put us on VT service 1H05 from MKC to MAN, ex MKC plat 6 19:50 on Tuesday and arriving MAN plat 5 at 21:28 on Tuesday. (Definitely gets my vote as the WTT shows that to be a Pendolino! <D )
  • Current station, time (Etc) on my chain is therefore MAN at 21:28 on Tuesday.
The competing chain by High Dyke caused by posting at the same time as me:
  • High Dyke took the LM service 2F37 from WFJ to St. Albans Abbey, ex WFJ plat 11 at 18:55 on Tuesday and due into St. Albans Abbey at 19:11 on Tuesday.
  • So far, I have seen no further responses to this chain.
  • Current station, time (Etc) on High Dykes' chain is therefore St. Albans Abbey at 19:11 on Tuesday.
All times used above have been taken from the GBRTT side of the WTT, and it's up to the adjudicator to decide which of the above chains to progress the game with. 8-)

Suggestions: Thinking about it, might it be a good idea to
  • Restrict the thread (Using a perms script) so that only one user at a time can author a reply to prevent contentions, and/or
  • Introduce a rule which governs decisions in a users absence in the event they can't respond to their hold within (Say) 4-8 hours of a request?
Farewell for now, and my apologies for unintentionally stuffing up the game for a bit. This was due to my having a "net free" day for my personal benefit (As I spend FAR too much time on the web as a rule)

As with "the next station is" the post that appears first in the topic has precedence (I have now clarified this in the rules), that wasn't the issue here. The confusion was over the lack of a departure time from Watford Junction and also that your post could have been read as a question rather than an intention to move. Since you have now clarified this I am happy for the game to RESUME from Manchester Piccadilly at 2128 on Tuesday.

If I notice a move is not valid then I will usually declare it void. In this case though I believed your move to be valid and it was simply a matter of confirming it was actually your intention to move (and not just ask if the move was allowed) rather than a doubt over the validity. I have edited the rules though to state that where if the hold has not been resolved within 24 hours then an adjudication will be be made. This will allow for people not having net access for a day.

Well, then, not only the matter has been solved and our new contestant Death has explained matters most precisely in his detailed posting, so all I will add to the matter is to remind everyone that there are other modes of travel other than rail (as detailed in the rules) can be used.

We decide on a change of travel mode and access the Manchester Metrolink platforms where we board the 2145 Manchester Metrolink service to Bury Interchange that arrives there at 2218 on Tuesday evening.

Needing a bed for the night we retire to the Premier Inn, adjacent to Bury Interchange. Having sated ourselves the following morning on the 'all you can eat breakfast' we make our way to the Interchange where we catch the Rossendale Bus 484 service departing at 08:55 to Accrington Bus Station arriving at 09:56 on Wednesday morning

We decide upon visiting Manchester's Chinatown across the way from the coach station and have a sumptuous repast with a choice of 6 dim sum to finish, then return to the coach station to board the 1615 High Peak "Trans Peak" TP service to Matlock (Bakewell Road) that arrives there at 1830 on Wednesday evening.

Chorlton St. is within reasonable walking distance of Picadilly, isn't it?

IF so THEN I'd like to get us back on the Metals and take XC service 1V61 to Bristol TM, departing MAN at 15:07 on Wednesday and arriving Bristol TM at 18:07 on Wednesday.

ELSE IF not THEN disregard post and remain at Chorlton St. at 14:55 on Wednesday.

Edit: Oh for the love of the Gods, I'm getting sick of looking up timetable data as required by the rules, only for my post to be invalidated by another coming in a few seconds before! :(

Walking
You may walk in order to change modes but you may not walk between stops of the same mode although you may walk to a different bus stop at the same location for example by crossing the road in order to travel in a different direction.

Please note this extract from the rules with regard to walking

[Placeholder: Next move will be arriving here shortly]

No it won't...TravelLine's being an idiot and interpreting "Menai Bridge" as "Metal f***ing Bridge", doesn't recognise the name at all if entered in Welsh, and my usual gambit of walking over the bridge to Bangor won't work as per the game rules. :(

...And as coincidence would have it, I went and recycled my Amserau Bws Ynys Mon only last week! :|

Nothing in the rules against it...And to prevent post "knitting" like we had up-thread, I'd say it's a wise idea.

Anyhow...Just so we don't lose track: Our current location is Porthanethwy (Menai Bridge) at about 09:50 on a Thursday. :)

I have updated the rules to show that posts moves may only be submitted as new posts and not edited posts and that making a post that doesn't contain a move and then editing it is not permitted.

We find that Carmel, situated as it is in the middle of Anglesey, has a "somewhat sparse" bus service....and we have just arrived on the last bus of the day.. Nothing for it but seek accommodation where it may be found and we have the pleasure of partaking of some excellent home-cooked food for the evening meal, a soft and comfortable warm bed in which to sleep the sleep of the just, then on awaking to partake of a full Welsh breakfast, before leisurely making our way to the bus stop where we board the 1010 G.H.A. Coaches service 63 to Llanbedrgoch (Llanbedrgoch Main Road) that arrives there at 1042 on Friday morning.

[You're fantasizing again - you must let me know where you found such sumptuous accommodation in Carmel :D]

The joys of integrated travel seem to be lost on Ynys Mon, as the first bus of the day to Llangefni has left a mere 7 minutes before we've arrived, so we await the second [and last] bus of the day, the 1323 Gwynfor Coaches service 55 to Post Llangefni Post, arriving 1340 on Friday afternoon.

Gerontius is not the only one who can dream...despite what Elgar would have you believe.....:D

We have nearly an hour to see what the county town offers in the town centre before boarding the 1430 Gwynfor Coaches service 55 to Pentraeth (Pentraeth Square) that arrives there at 1443 on Friday afternoon.
