I assume Paul Sidorczuk has put the wrong time in, being we left Victoria at 1802 and arrived in Portsmouth Harbour at 2007 as per pervious post, and on that basis we board the 2023 First Great Western service to Car.... actually we realise at last moment we stop at Southampton Central at 2108 Friday evening so we get off there

I was so amazed by a "three-week" layover, that when it came to make my clarification, I did not put in the correct time of 2007 as the time in the posting prior the one which was queried. That matter has now been amended on my posting of clarification, for which I thank you.

Excellent timing decision on that last jourmey means that we have time to board the 2113 Southern service to Brighton that arrives at 2318 on Friday night.

Hang on, we are at London Bridge - the 0232 is from St Pancras. Getting there is surely at least one move in itself? No through trains at night.

We think that an hour is not too long to wait for an onward connection at this very early hour of the morning, so eventually, we board the 0232 FCC service to Luton that arrives there at 0320 on Saturday morning.

With little to do there but freeze we catch the Arriva 757 bus from Church Street at 0335 and travel though to London Victoria, arriving at 0503 in Buckingham Palace Road Saturday am

We walk from the bus station to the railway station and board the 0532 Southern service to Littlehampton that arrives there at 0723 on Saturday morning

Excellent timing connection by that last bus enables us to enter the railway station and board the 0817 Southern service to Clapham Junction which arrives there at 0937 on Saturday morning.

We think where do we go now, a quick look at departure shows the 0946 South West Trains to Poole is nearly here and we board as far as Basingstoke arriving 1031 Saturday morning

We decide now to head north on a long journey and after a hot drink, we board the 1047 XC service to Manchester Piccadilly that arrives at 1439 on Saturday afternoon.

After such a long journey, we stretch our legs and find the bus stop[just off Piccadilly Gardens], for First's 184 service to Huddersfield. So we board the 1530 departure, and alight at Slaithwaite[Star Hotel] at 1657, Sat tea-time.

We find an onward connection is available for the next short leg, so we board the 1726 First Calderdale and Huddersfield service 185 to Milnsbridge (Manchester Road/Park Road West) that arrives there at 1738 on Saturday afternoon.

We then walk to the bottom of Scar Lane to catch another First in Hudds & Halifax bus - this time the 1756 Service 302 to Golcar Town End, where we alight at 1804, Saturday tea-time.

We decide to try to find the site of Golcar railway station that was closed in 1968, but decide that Saturday afternoon is a good time to have a large potion of fish and chips from a local chip shop before boarding the 1937 First Huddersfield service 303 to Huddersfield bus station that arrives there at 1956 on Saturday evening.

A short walk to the train station and we get there to see a train to Manchester pull out, but not to worry as we wait for the 2016 Transpennine Express to Newcastle arriving 2228 saturday evening

We either spend the night clubbing, or in a comfortable hotel, depending on our preferences and energy levels, and on Sunday morning catch the 0910 Northern train to Carlisle, arriving at 1044.

...with a speedy connection to the 10:46 Virgin Trains to Preston (Lancashire), we arrive at 11:56 that Sunday. We enter as we see loads of buses overhead to places like Chorley, Fleetwood, and my house. (Trufax)

A cross-Pennine journey now takes our fancy, so after a snack and a hot drink, we board the 1237 Northern service to Church Fenton that arrives there at 1448 on Sunday afternoon.

We've seen all that Moorthorpe has to offer on a Sunday evening 3 times by 1915, so we return to the station and twiddle our thumbs until the 2012 NT to Leeds, from which we alight at Wakefield Westgate at 2028, Sunday night.

After surveying the delights of Wakefield we decide to catch the 2122 XC service to Birmingham New Streetarriving 2318 Sunday evening
