Once again only one service available, however we only have a 2 minute wait as it's the same bus going back, we board the 17:43 R Robertson service 4 to Lerwick, alighting at Lerwick Shetland Hotel at 18:00 on Wednesday evening

With the next ferry back to the mainland not until Friday teatime (!), we have a few days to kill, but there isn't much to do at this time of night here, so we depart at 1847 on J & DS Halcrow service 19, from which we alight back at the Lerwick, Viking Bus Station at 1853 on Wednesday.

Thursday at 1900 according to Northlink Ferries website.
Think there is some confusion over the ferry timetable, as far as I can see there is no ferry between Wednesday and Friday this week and next week, however this is only because one of the ferries is currently in doing its yearly maintenance, You could probably take the Thursday ferry as that is in its normal timetable, as with game rules. Photos show next Thursday without a ferry but then the next week with one, I would say that since its a amended timetable right now, we probably could use the Thursday ferry as it is in the normal timetable

To keep us moving we'll take the 1900 R Robertson service 6 to Cunningsburgh, Public Hall arriving at 1920 on Wednesday.

That seems to be it for the night, so we return the following morning for the 0802 R Robertson service 23 to Brae, Leisure Centre arriving at 0837 on Thursday morning.

Oh dear, unless I've missed something we're stuck here for a while. We will continue on the first available service (with the exception of the 1744 which continues 1 minute down the road before terminating) the 1800 J & D S Halcrow service 6 to Gulberwick, South Road End arriving at 1817 on Thursday.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
Noting that the service is operated by a different operator on the final service of the day in the direction we wish to travel, we next board the 1911 R Robertson & Son service 6 to Sumburgh Airport Terminal that arrives there at 1958 on Thursday.

HINT...this bus changes its number to a service 6E on its return journey.

Having missed Thursday's does-it-doesn't-it 1900 ferry, we realise that our only option is to depart on the aforementioned R Robertson & Sons service 6E at 2000 (same vehicle as 1958 arrival). Hoping that there is something else for us to other than another journey on the 6E (!) we alight back at our recent home of Lerwick, Viking Bus Station at 2057 on Thursday.

With the specifics of the game rules about not waiting more than 2 hours, and the paucity of frequency hereabouts it feels quite challenging to engineer us being actually in Lerwick within the rules at the right time to catch the once-a-day ferry!!!

We're also at risk of being at odds with the "please note that this practice is acceptable, however it is not intended that the game gets tied up on these islands for great periods of time" advice!

Let's go in a different direction now with the 2120 K and K Transport service 9 to ****t, Road End arriving at 2156 on Thursday.

Being responsible as Rail Forums is, the forum automatically obscures part of the place name here.

I'm tempted to suggest a temporary relaxation of the rules for the rest of this 'game day' (now Friday after this move) to allow us more than the maximum two hours between moves. This will ensure that we are able to leave the area on the 1730 ferry from Lerwick to Kirkwall (arr 2300) and Aberdeen (arr 0700).
Thoughts?

That's it for the night here, and there is no other stop within allowable walking distance, so we return in the morning to board J&DS Halcrow service 12 at 0807. We alight at Lerwick Coop at 0837 on Friday.

Makes sense

We walk for 4 minutes 0.2 mile to the bus stop on North Road and catch the 0904 R Robertson & Son service 1 to Gremista Industrial Estate arriving at 0917 on Friday.

I agree with the temporary relaxation for today's game day, if not we could end up stuck on Shetland for weeks!

With no other services, we wait 1 hour for the next 1 service operated by R Robertson & Son at 10:17 to Lerwick Esplanade, arriving there at 10:30 on Friday morning

Excellent that we are in agreement :).

Not yet needing to take advantage of the temporary relaxation, we depart on J&DS Halcrow service 19 at 1116, from which we alight at Vidlin Junction (Road End) at 1149 on Friday.

We next board the 13:12 R Robertson & Son service 23 to Toft Ferry Terminal, however not actually wanting to take this particular ferry today, we alight at Mossbank Rayburn Road at 13:39 on Friday afternoon

We therefore board the 1700 (bustimes) / 1730 (Operator website) Northlink Ferries service, from which we alight at Aberdeen Ferry Terminal at 0700 on Saturday.

I was tempted to deposit us at Kirkwall but thought we could probably do with time away from the islands :D
