Unfortunately with the long term closure of Ryde Pier to rail traffic the only options forward are either a nine minute (0.4 mile) walk to the Esplanade or a rail replacement minibus. Opting for the former we make our way to the Hoverport for the 11.15 Hovertravel service to Southsea Hoverport arriving at 11.25 on Sunday.

A great shame our time on the island was cut so drastically short despite the closure of Ryde Pier Head station; was a journey on one of Southern Vectis' many routes not desirable seeing as we would have had to walk past Ryde bus station in order to reach the hoverport?
Furthermore, it is most definitely more than a nine minute walk to the Hoverport. It takes about ten minutes alone (and I'm a brisk walker) just to walk along the pier to the Esplanade, then you still have to walk past the bus station and cross the footbridge over the railway line as it goes under the tunnel towards St John's Road before you get to the Hoverport.
Edit: a quick check confirms it's a 14 minute/0.6 mile walk to the Hoverport, so technically an invalid move. But too many moves have evolved since.
A nine minute/0.4 mile walk takes us to Stop C of High Street. Here, we board the 1506 Stagecoach South Coastliner service 700 to Littlehampton (Anchor Springs), arriving there at 1530 on Sunday.

A 6 min (0.3 mile) walk takes us to the railway station where we depart on Southern's 1613 towards London, from which we alight at Gatwick Airport at 1727 on Sunday.
