Let’s take the Transport for Wales 2101 train to Cardiff Central arriving at 2133 on Saturday evening. The distance from the bus station to the rail station is half a mile, so just exactly on the rule.

Perhaps instead of Getting off at Cardiff Central, but getting off at Queen Street instead - that leaves the following post as still possible- ish?

Yes, it does :)

So, having arrived at Culverhouse Cross (Tesco Extra), at 2353 Saturday evening, we then sleep in the Tesco doorway for a few hours and get the first bus out of the area, the 0805 Adventure Travel service X1 to Ely (Resurrection Church) at 0813 on the Sunday.

Assuming you mean the 303?

Well annoyingly, the train to Cardiff departs just as this arrives (so much for a met connection!), so we instead board the 1205 New Adventure Travel service 304 to Cardiff Bay (Magretion Place), arriving there at 1353 on Sunday afternoon.

Stagecoach something, they're white and orange and blue and red

Well the only remaining bus here is a 151 back to Blackwood, so instead of catching that we return in the morning for the 0558 Stagecoach South Wales Gold service 151 to Newport (St Woolos Cathedral), arriving there at 0623 on Monday morning.

That would have gotten you out of Risca on Sunday :)

Anyway, lets catch the solitary daily journey on Newport Bus service 19E that is extended beyond Friars Walk, boarding it at the Cathedral at 0637 for the 4 minute journey to the Royal Gwent Hospital Grounds, arriving at 0641 on Monday.
