[A Challenge]

Could we refer to the this extract from the rules please:

Rules

• You should use the first available service to reach your destination after allowing for the minimum interchange time.
• You shouldn't wait for more than two hours after the first available service (to any destination) has left, after allowing for the minimum interchange time.

Please also refer to the below posting, made by 'transportphoto', which refers to Game Play Etiquette, which form part of the Game Rules.

Similarly, in the gamplay ettiquette:

Unlike in previous versions of this game, we do not have any one appointed person(s) who have a role to police the rules of the game, instead we leave this down to community judgement.

When posting moves, please do endeavour that they are realistic, whilst complying with the set rules at the same time. For example, it wouldn't be reasonable nor realistic, for someone to post a move which involves waiting at Clapham Junction for an hour and a half; trains pass through here much more frequently... whilst waiting two hours at a station such as Stowmarket would be more realistic as the station doesn't see frequent services

The first valid train running through Haymarket after the five minute interchange time has elapsed is the 1M99 TransPennine Express service to Manchester Airport, meaning that the last train we could catch (even though I would say its busy enough that waiting 2 hours may be counted as unrealistic as per the etiquette section) is at 16:22 (as long as there hasn't been another train to that destination since 14:22), and therefore I would argue that the 2 1/2 hours it says it is is not allowed at all and the actual departure time would count as unrealistic.

Ok. Will take note and watch my timings in future. Only joined the game yesterday and hadn't remembered all the rules. So just for argument sake this time I think we should carry on from the last poster that posted and his journey is as below.

Exiting the station to Temple Quay, we then board the 2318 First Bristol service 50 to Hengrove Park (South Bristol Hospital), arriving there at 2349 on Thursday evening.

I have PM'd the four quizmasters, namely Class 172, OxtedL, transportphoto and fishquinn with a proposed rule change:

"I would like to propose the following rule change to The Transport Game (UK):

'When a move results in an arrival at the destination at 2330 or later, anybody wishing to make the next post has the option of waiting until 0500 the next day, when the rules of taking the next appropriate service apply. '

I, and several others, have noticed that when a move arrives in a city with night buses - London excepted - play seems to slow down or stop until a pair of people make a series of repetitive night bus moves until the first train of the day departs. This rule change avoids this, and also if someone 'calls it a night' until next morning, only for another to point out that some obscure coach service makes a call in the small hours.

Note that the word 'option' should be highlighted. There is nothing to stop a poster using night services if they want to.

I will value your opinion and respect your adjudication.

The following amendment has now been made to the rules, detailed in the original post and additionally here:

• You shouldn't wait for more than two hours after the first available service (to any destination) has left, after allowing for the minimum interchange time.
  • Night services in the UK can be quite limited, so when the previous move arrives at its destination after 2300 you are allowed to wait until 0500 the next day if you wish.

Gameplay

The Aim of the game is to travel around the country using public transport in a pseudo-realistic fashion. To play, you must depart from the station or stop where the previous post arrived using a permitted timetabled public transport service. Having arrived at the destination, the minimum connection time for the station or stop must be allowed for. Where this is not published, a minimum interchange time is considered to be five minutes. In your post you should clearly state the time your service departs, the company who's service you are using and the time and day of arrival at your chosen destination.

The above extract from the rules section will be useful for any new contestants to note, especially that which is emboldened.
