I was using Google maps results for 11th Feb, which is a Saturday. I will use that move, editing the timings!

Thank you! :)

We next board the 2042 South West Trains service to Richmond, arriving at 2144 on Saturday afternoon.

On Sundays I think that service (2C70) departs at 2054 from Reading and arrives at Richmond at 2158.

Exiting the station to the bus stops outside, we then board the 2203 London General service 493 to Roehampton (Medfield Street), arriving there at 2222 on Sunday evening.

No need to apologise, we're all human, you should see how many mistakes I've made on here over the years!

Adjudication required, which service should we have travelled on?

Observing a minimum 5 minutes connection and use of the first available service should we not have boarded the 01:33 Southern service for London Victoria, calling Clapham Junction 01:47 and London Victoria 01:55?

The rules state that we

1) Must have waited five minutes (the minimum connection time), ergo any train departing at or after 01:27 is valid.

2) Should use the first available service to reach your destination after allowing for the minimum interchange time, which both of these have done for their respective destinations. (Note that this does not mean that you must catch the first train that appears - just that you have to catch the first train that's going to your intended destination).

3) Shouldn't wait for more than two hours after the first available service (to any destination) has left, after allowing for the minimum interchange time (ergo any train before 03:24).

Both of the posts seem to follow these rules, so I'd say that we should go for the one that was posted first, namely that we are at Bedford at 03:40 on Monday morning.

Rather than simply returning to London, we walk the 0.4 miles to the town's bus station. We have plenty of time to catch the first X5 bus of the morning, which leaves for Cambridge at 04:51. We ride the Stagecoach East service to the terminus at Cambridge Parkside, arriving at 06:00 on Monday morning.

We get off the bus and run to catch the next Southbound train, which leaves at 08:30. However, as we approach the doors close and the train heads. We swear we can see the driver laughing in his cab as he leaves us behind on the platform.

Thus, we must wait for the 09:00 Great Northern service 1P53 instead. We notice that this train calls at one station the last one doesn't - Knebworth. So this is here that we decide shall be our next stop, arriving at 09:40 on this miserable Monday morning.
