Taking the short walk around to Redcliffe Hill, we then board the 0010 First Bristol service 75 to Filton (Callicroft Road), arriving there at 0048 in the early hours of Sunday morning.

We take the 0125 First 75 service to Bristol Redcliffe Hill at 0158 on Monday morning

I do feel that sometimes in this game, for whatever reason, we get stuck on night service buses going backwards and forwards until finally we get to the station or a more interesting bus or coach service that is available at about 0500. In the last year we've been stuck in Norwich, Reading and now Bristol, going back and forth. I think that this puts people off playing. Normally we get two or three posts a day, but if we get stuck at night, I think people feel an inner groan, 'Oh no we have to shuttle here and there in this city or town until the early morning', and this is reflected in the frequency of posts..

In addition, posters have been criticised for not realising that there are obscure night coach services available when they've said, 'Let's call it a night' - this leads to ill-will.

I would suggest an amendment to the rules whereby any arrivals at a place at 0030 or later can be optionally dormant till 0530.

However, I realise people may disagree with me, and in any case I have no idea to whom I should submit this proposal .

Submit it to one of the forum quizmasters, and you can refer to me for support, though maybe for a 5 hour period starting any time between 23:00 and 01:30?

Not wanting to spend all night on the 75 bus (I'm pretty sure it's one we've spent a lot of time on before?) seems like a very legitimate reason to skip the night. I don't think the rules disagree on this - if someone tells you otherwise then drop the QMs a note, as they shouldn't be telling you what to do unless you've completely broken the game.

If you think the rules need changing then the best thing to do is PM the QMs (or any subset thereof) - if you can be specific and point out an example of the problem it's trying to solve you are more likely to get a response before the next ice age comes around. I'll ask the other QMs to discuss the suggestion above!

A personal observation made

With regards to certain disquiets noted, it was sheer and utter frustration caused by some of the complaints that have just been raised that made me take the decision to stand back from this quiz. As the poster with the second highest number of postings that have been made on this second version of this quiz, it was not a matter that I took lightly.

Mention has been made in a posting of certain settlements where long periods of play are spent using buses and I must confess that my heart used to sink if either Oxford, Bristol or Brighton were ever reached.

Here we board First Bristol B&W service A1 at 0230 to Bristol International Airport (Airport Terminal), arriving at 0247 Monday morning.

Several ground transportation options are available from here which do not necessarily involve shuttling around Bristol.

I agree. The only reason I kept moving throughout the night was because I did not wish to break the rules. Sometimes other options are available.

With respect, if your 'heart sinks' when visiting these locations on the forum then I suggest you see a doctor :roll:

Also, whilst I agree Bristol (and Brighton not so much) do appear frequently on this forum, I definitely would not say Oxford does. I can't even remember when we were last in Oxford, or even where we would move to within it? I'd say Manchester and London appear way more frequently.

With reference to this posting that you made on the thread on Monday, you could not have made it at a more opportune time, as I had a Tuesday afternoon appointment to keep with the Stroke Consultant and I mentioned your advice as an afterthought at the end of the appointment.

The medical view expressed in response was that what you mentioned was not one matter that is covered by the side-effects of any of the six drugs that I have to take on a daily basis, so I felt most reassured and wish to pass on this same information to you in this posting.
