We then board the 1356 Stagecoach Lancashire service X2 to Southport (Lord Street), arriving there at 1409 on Wednesday afternoon.

The last time I walked the length of Lord Street, there were quite a number of bus stops on both sides of the road, but travelling in the direction you were travelling, you would be on the side of the road where the Cenotaph is situated and not the other side that has serried ranks of the ornate cast iron and glass canopies that front the shops.

Assuming therefore a central location bus stop, we next board the 1422 Arriva North West service 47 to Little Altcar (Cross Green/Liverpool Road) that arrives there at 1450 on Wednesday afternoon.

The particular bus stop I alighted us at on Lord Street was stop CG, if that means anything? I've never been to Southport believe it or not so my local knowledge of the area isn't strong.

Anyway, we continue our travels across the north west as we board the 1558 Stagecoach in Lancashire service X2 to Liverpool (Leeds Street), arriving there at 1654 on Wednesday afternoon.

On this website, a long-closed thread discussed the travel distance from Warrington bus interchange (which is very near to Warrington Central station) and Warrington Bank Quay railway station, the website member radamfi stated a walking distance of 0.8 miles and a brisk 15 minutes walk.

Was he incorrect in what his posting said?

I believe the figures quoted are correct and the walk is above the 0.5 mile limit. In the past, I've researched a similar move in Warrington, which I had to abandon before posting as the distance is too far.

Other locations where you can get caught out with invalid bus station/rail station walks are Preston, Coventry and Norwich.

Exiting Warrington bus station and heading into Central station which is directly opposite, we then say farewell to the north west as we board the 2253 First TransPennine Express service 1E96 to Leeds, arriving there at 0031 in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Before anyone makes the next post, please be aware that Leeds has 24 hour train services by TPE.
