We decide upon a late evening train ride to the coast, so we make our way into the railway station with plenty of time to spare before boarding the 2205 AGA service to Southend Victoria that arrives there at 2234 on Friday evening.

A ten-minute, half-mile walk takes us to Southend Central station. Here we take c2c's 2305 departure to Barking arriving 2345 Friday evening.

Not enough connection time unfortunately to catch the last train to Gospel Oak, so we make our way to the underground service platforms where we board the 2356 District Line service to Richmond underground station which arrives there at 0105 on Saturday morning.

Here we have just enough time to get outside the station to board the 0110 London United service (N)65 to Chessington, World of Adventures arriving at 0152 on Saturday morning.

Peeved we are to find that it does not open until 1000, we take the 8 minutes walk to the bus stop at Barwell Business Park on Leatherhead Road where we board the 0148 London United service (N)65 to Ealing Broadway station that arrives there at 0245 on Saturday morning.

The previous service arrived at 0152, and anyway you can board the (N)65 at Chessington World of Adventures as well. The reason it is the (N)65 is that the blinds still say 65 Chessington, but it is an extension of the day route 65 to cover day route 71 in one night route. The schedule has it down as the N65.

We transfer at Reading to First's X25 RailAir bus, departing 0500, arriving at Heathrow Airport, Terminal 3 at 0551 Saturday morning.

We make our way to the Central Bus Station where we board the 0616 Abellio Surrey service 441 to Englefield Green (Elmbank Avenue) that arrives there at 0710 on Saturday morning.

We walk 0.5 miles to the St Jude's Cemetery bus stop on St Jude's Road.

From here we take the 0729 First in Berkshire & Thames Valley Service 71 to Slough Bus Station, arriving at 0755 Saturday morning.

Staying with the same operator, we next board the 0815 First in Berkshire and the Thames Valley service X74 to High Wycombe bus station that arrives there at 0900 on Saturday morning.

We change to a National Express coach (service JL737), departing at 1010 to Luton Airport arriving 1120 Saturday morning.

Just enough connection time to board the 1125 Arriva the Shires service "A" to Houghton Regis (Dog and Duck PH on Parkside Drive) that arrives there at 1209 on Saturday afternoon.

We arrived on Arriva the Shires service A, so it's reasonable that we leave on the same operator's Service Z.

The "Z" leaves the Dog & Duck at 1226 arriving at Luton, Galaxy Centre at 1256 Saturday afternoon.

Time to resign ourselves to the fact that we will have to wait overnight, we eventually board the 0755 AGA service to Great Yarmouth (ignoring the original thought we had of an opportunity to disembark at Berney Arms) that arrives at 0812 on Sunday morning
