We exit the railway station and make the six minute walk to the bus stop on Northgate Street where we board the 0941 First in Norfolk and Suffolk service to California (Rottonstone Lane) that arrives there at 0957 on Friday morning.

As so often seems to happen in this game, we've been left somewhere where the only route out is the way we got here.

So... we catch the 1020 1A First Eastern Counties service to Lowestoft Bus Station (stand 8), arriving at 11:33 on Friday morning.

Not in this case, as California is not the terminal of the 1A route and you could still have gone onwards to Martham which is in the other direction to Lowestoft.

Wishing to visit one of our favourite "quiet" Suffolk seaside settlements, we next board the 1148 Anglian Bus service 61 to Southwold (Kings Head) that arrives there at 1237 on Friday afternoon.

We then board the 1335 Borderbus service 146 to Beccles (Old Market Place), arriving there at 1430 on Friday afternoon.

We next board the 1525 Anglian Bus service 80 to Harleston (Broad Street) that arrives there at 1603 on Friday afternoon.

From there we catch the 16:40 Anglianbus service 83 to Long Stratton (Ice House Court), arriving at 17:08 on Friday afternoon.

We then board the 1719 First in Norfolk & Suffolk service 35 to Norwich (St Stephen's Street), arriving there at 1752 on Friday evening.

From St Stephen's Street, we then catch the 1803 Simonds service 1 to Diss Bus Station, arriving at 1910 on Friday evening.

We are very nearly stuck for the night, since there are no more local buses leaving Diss this evening and the railway station, at 0.9 miles, is too far to walk.
Luckily there is one more chance .....

National Express coach service NX497 departing Diss (adj. the bus station) at 1945 and arriving at Lowestoft Bus Station at 2045 Friday evening.

We note there is not long to wait and take the bus to the south part of town.

So we board the 21:00 First eastern counties 101 service to Cowslip Crescent, Periwinkle close arriving there at 21:14 Friday Evening.

Just when I thought we were going to be stuck overnight in one of Paul's famous never-heard-of places, we then find that we can take the seven minute walk to the Foxburrow bus stop on the A12, where we board the 2301 First in Norfolk & Suffolk service 1 to Great Yarmouth (Market Gates), arriving there at 2340 on Friday evening.

After sleeping at the bus station, we walk over to the train station to get the first train away - the 06:15 AGA service which we take all the way to Norwich arriving at 06:47 on Saturday morning.

It's time to leave East Anglia behind.

We then board the 0653 East Midlands Trains service 1R66 to Widnes, arriving there at 1204 on Saturday afternoon.

We then continue quarter of an hour later on the 12:19 Northern service which we take to Edge Hill arriving at 12:49 on Saturday afternoon.

It would be a shame to be in the area and not take the opportunity for a ride past Springs Branch .....

We take the 1304 Northern service to Wigan North Western arriving there at 1352 Saturday afternoon.

We then board the 1428 Virgin Trains service 9M55 to Coventry, arriving there at 1630 on Saturday afternoon.

After a quick visit to the Transport Museum, next onto the 1725 CrossCountry service to Winchester arriving at 1924 on Saturday evening.

We continue on the tour of britain by boarding the 19:35 Cross Country service to Stoke-on-Trent arriving there at 22:50 Saturday Evening, just in time to explore the local nightlife.

We then exit the station and board the 2308 First Potteries service 3 to Keele (Sneyd Arms), arriving there at 2342 on Saturday evening.

Sunday morning comes along and we board the 0835 from Keele to Crewe railway station, arriving at 1020.

We then call it a night in Keele (Sneyd Arms), and then take the 0835 3 service on Sunday morning. We alight at Crewe station at 1020.

Deciding to visit a lesser-known settlement that we are now apparently famous for making journeys to, this time greatly aided and abetted by our intimate localised knowledge of the Cheshire East area, we exit the railway station and crossing the road opposite, we make our way to the bus stop of the Crewe Arms Hotel and board the 1042 D & G service 38 to Eaton (The Plough PH on School Lane) that arrives there at 1123 on Sunday morning.

Route 38 seems to be the only bus service passing through Eaton, so lucky we have alighted outside a pub, since it is a 2 hour wait for the next .....

D & G Bus service 38 at 1323, arriving Macclesfield, Queen Victoria St Bus Station at 1343 Sunday afternoon.

We next board the 1355 Arriva North West service 10A to Bollington Cross (Cock and Pheasant PH on Bollington Road) that arrives there at 1406 on Sunday afternoon.

Nothing much we can do here again as this is the only bus serving the area (the handy 392 doesn't run on a Sunday), so we board the 1421 Arriva North West service 10A back to Macclesfield (Park Street), arriving there at 1431 on Sunday afternoon.
